This is a world class museum which everyone has reviewed extensively so I will not add to the superlatives already heaped on this lovely building and its amazing contents. What I would like to tell visitors is that there is a strict baggage code operated by the museum. All backpacks and large (to read medium as well) handbags must be checked in and please do so before you start queuing as the staff will stop you and you will have to queue all over again after checking your bags in. This service is horrendously tedious as the queue can be very long but it is free and a necessity so there is no point complaining about it. There is also a long queue afterwards to retrieve your belongings. The staff will try to help by suggesting you get a locker, located by the toilet. However, this is a free for all and it is a matter of being lucky enough to be standing by a locker when someone returns with a key. Otherwise it can be a long wait! My advice is to grin and bear it and queue as soon as you get to the museum. Allow time for queuing as well as we waited for over twenty minutes to check a small backpack in. Factor all this in before you get to the museum and you will have a wonderful time being overwhelmed by its awe inspiring contents. If not, you will just get annoyed and irritated!
