Owner description: The Rijksmuseum is the museum of the Netherlands. The completely renovated Rijksmuseum tells the story of the Netherlands from the Middle Ages to the 20th century. Including works by Rembrandt, Vermeer, Frans Hals, and more! Most famous is Rembrandt's masterpiece the Night Watch. A new display of the collection, a renewed building, new public facilities, a revamped garden and a new Asian Pavilion. Open daily from 9 am to 5 pm.

This is a world class museum which everyone has reviewed extensively so I will not add to the superlatives already heaped on this lovely building and its amazing contents. What I would like to tell visitors is that there is a strict baggage code operated by the museum. All backpacks and large (to read medium as well) handbags must be checked in and please do so before you start queuing as the staff will stop you and you will have to queue all over again after checking your bags in. This service is horrendously tedious as the queue can be very long but it is free and a necessity so there is no point complaining about it. There is also a long queue afterwards to retrieve your belongings. The staff will try to help by suggesting you get a locker, located by the toilet. However, this is a free for all and it is a matter of being lucky enough to be standing by a locker when someone returns with a key. Otherwise it can be a long wait! My advice is to grin and bear it and queue as soon as you get to the museum. Allow time for queuing as well as we waited for over twenty minutes to check a small backpack in. Factor all this in before you get to the museum and you will have a wonderful time being overwhelmed by its awe inspiring contents. If not, you will just get annoyed and irritated!

the Rijk is a huge museum but can be done in within 3 hours. It is like Amsterdam's Metropolitan Museum of Art. The collection is varied and has works by Rembrandt and other Dutch artists but the Vermeers they have are wonderful and I loved those the most, though they do not have the Girl with the Pearl Earring. The restaurant is fun, though pretty pricey.

Some great works of art and historical artefacts on display. Rembrandt and Vermeer masterpieces alone are worth the admission. Only downside is it is not easy to navigate the rooms and work out how to use the audio guide system. Got there in the end but frustrating at first.

It's very hugh museum for art lovers. But for me was interesting just Night watch. For your visit reserve 2hours and more. With Amsterdam city card you have this museum for free, you just go strait to the entrance.

Great museum to see old master art...the museum itself is a masterpiece..absolutely download the museum app on your phone or pad and you can learn many things about the masterpieces on your own without any charge.
