Me and my husband were in Amsterdam for a couple of days. When we first visited this place everything was amazing: food and service (our order was processed by the guy). Our second time was a day after this. We couldn't amagine that this time will be so disappointing. This was about 14.30, the place wasn't crowded.
We ordered two waffles with banana and cream+strawberry, 2 latte and 1 chocolate pancake. The lady behind the counter was looking pretty angry, didn't smile at all. We received our waffles, latte and plastic card with number 50 (pancakes). I asked the lady about the restroom, but she told me that they haven't any for guests, so I went to look for the pizzeria (lady told there may the restroom). My husband stayed siting at Rene's. I was back in 2 minutes because I couldn't find the restroom. In a 5 minutes after our order my husband went to ask about pancakes and another girl told him that she was calling/shouting our number (50) and no one came to take the pancake, so she throw it away!!! We were badly surprised because I was away only for a couple of minutes, and my husband was all this time there! When I asked the stuff about our pancake that girl told me the same, that she was shouting about 30minutes!!!! And our dish turned bad so she throw it away! But this is not true, we were at Rene's only 15 minutes. Than she asked "You want me to give you back your money?". I said, "yes". And here she told, "So it is okay to throw the food away?!" I was shocked. She throw this dish away, not me. I think it is all tricks for tourists (high and stupid). Note: We were both sober. She refused to make a new pancake. They probably ate it by themself or sold someone else again.
We were in a big hurry to reach the Schiphol airport in time, so I just finished my waffle (which didn't seem to be so amazing now) and we left this unfriendly place.
If we would have a bit more time we would ask her to show us our pancake in a trash can and call the administrator. Well, if such attitude to the food and clients is a normal thing for you than make an announcement or some rules how you serve the clients...including throwing the dishes away.
We left Amsterdam with bad mood thanks to you this unpleasant situation.
What I can add? The first Lady behind the counter quietly put our latte on the counter while for the other Clint she loudly said "coffee". This is 100% cheating team work on how to earn on "stupid tourists".
