The hotel is located a 5 minute walk from the central station of Eindhoven. It is an older hotel - it's not super special to look at from the outside. As we all know, however, with hotels it's very much the inside that counts.
Pro:
- Staff is very welcoming and service oriented. Everyone speaks at least decent English and more than half speaks English well.
- The only hotel I could find in Eindhoven that (without any issues whatsoever) would let me check in substantially earlier than the regular check in hours. The fee was 25 euros, but it meant you could check in as early as 11 AM. This solved my problem.
- The breakfast buffet is very nice. Excellent range of choices (especially with the cerals!), good quality.
- Room service is very good. The food was better than we expected ('adequate') from the Tripadvisor reviews. The burger was really better than adequate, including even the quality of the side salad. The smoothie was a delightful and very well balanced (tastewise) mix of vegetables and fruits.
- The beds are great. Every occupant gets to choose from 2 very different types of pillow (or can combine them). My hotel sleep is often ruined by mediocre or bad - to my taste - pillows, so this was great.
- The bathroom is spacious and well stocked. I did not use the complimentary soaps, etc., but they looked high quality. The rain shower is fantastic.
- There is complimentary water (2 bottles per stay), tea and a Nespresso machine with 3 capsules.
- The chairs are high quality and actually "sit" very well.
Con:
- The toilet did not have great flushing power. We did report this to the reception and the hotel would look into it. I have no doubt they will. It is hard to say whether that was our bad luck or a general problem. I would find the latter hard to believe considering the general level of quality at the hotel, however.
Be aware (neither good nor bad):
- You can park at the hotel. It has 2 parking garages. It does cost money.
- Book in advance, through ClubAccor, the hotel itself or a booking agent online. It saves you a very significant sum compared to the walk up fare. The latter takes this almost to luxury hotel levels.
- The minibar is well stocked with snacks and drinks. The minibar is 'smart': it notices you take something out and will bill you. If you try to put in your own stuff, it will lock down. (this is indicated clearly on the minibar!) Minibar prices are what you'd expect.
If I go to Eindhoven again and spend the night, I would book here again.
