Description: An exuberant city Maastricht. The Keizer karelplein a fancy Provencal square. As in the Lee of the always busy and nice Vrijthof. Between the entrance of the basilique of Saint Servais and the Vrijthof Square Theatre. We invite you to discover the flavours of our cuisine. Lia Veldt is a serious Cook and gourmet. She has lived for years in Provence. And like to make tasty things for you if you want Gerard Veldt, the Amsterdam host of Brasserie Emperor. He has a lot of experience with Provençal wines. He is also a very experienced barista who like a tasty cappuccino or espresso for you.

We found the owner welcoming and friendly, service good and food excellent. Seems popular with local people and we had an enjoyable meal, well presented, with good service.

After a citywalk in downtown Maastricht we had lunch at resto Keizer. Always good food!
This time outside on the little terrace in front of the building.
Nice interior. Friendly service.
Don’t get some of the comments here on Tripadvisor; no humor these days among grumpy folks .
Will be back here!

Thank MJbLimbricht

Food was really good. But it was just the 4 of is on a Friday night. Service was ok, but a little strange, especially since we were the only customers. We ordered 3 times the carpaccio, but they only had 1 available. This turned out to be a nice thing. We now also ordered the salmon carpaccio and the smoked meat carpaccio and shared everything. Great choice. Main courses were also really good. Wine was good and affordable. A nice place for sure, too bad tit was empty.

Geachte Chantal Verbeek,

Heel hartelijk dank voor uw mening.
De 3 verschillende carpaccio's waren wel leuk, en lekker.

This restaurant is two restaurants in one. We ate on the Burger Bar side. The burgers were great, the salad amazing, and even the fries with mayonnaise were good. But the best was hot lava cake with ice cream. Yum! The meal was a bit pricey at 38 euros for two people. Enjoyed it nonetheless. Highly recommended.

We were there for tea with a group of 6 people. As it was close to university and I had been there with friends before, I recommended we go there.

The owner, who took our order, was extremely rude. We all ordered drinks and burgers and soup, or some other light snacks, all our food was cold when we received it! Even the burger was cold, maybe the patty comes out of the micro. After we were done eating and the tables cleared, the owner kept lurking around our table, wiping the table we were sitting on, and at one point turned the lights off in our section of the restaurant! Clearly, he wanted us to leave! (We were there for two hours, with first food, then with additional drinks)

Then when we were leaving, we asked to split the bill (some of us had cash and others debit cards), the owner said it was not possible. I was here a couple of weeks before with three other friends, and then it was no problem to do so. So I asked him why it was no longer an option, and he said "The rules have changed".

The only difference there was between this visit and my previous ones is that this time we also had non-European students in the group. We really hope he was just having a bad day and is not doing this to only non-white students.

My advice is to only go there when they're on Social Deal and the prices are half off. Even then, the rude service doesn't make up for it. Burgers are 8 euros and above, soups are 8 to 9. So we had each spent a good 15-20 euros and been treated like we were there for free!
