We arrived at the hotel and had to temporarily park on the side of the street to register and leave our luggage. There is no parking nearby as we are in the heart of the city. I had instructions for the parking but got lost on the way and so finally reached the hotel by foot..
Our room was nice and comfortable but with a noisy air conditioning; We liked the bathroom. The breakfast was original, it was presented to us one course after another. It was not by choice but we enjoyed it very much. The garden is very pleasant with beautiful plants, an oasis in the heart of the city. It is a family run hotel and the staff was very pleasant. We enjoyed the city and tour of the stunning lake.

This is just an attempt to promote an old BnB to a modern business... service is as fake as most art works hanging around the entrance ... the breakfast was a mix of everything except the decision ... and the room AC was a joke like the AC or window down!!!!!!!! And of course windows must be upgraded to win10 ....

I think the only fake here is you dear sorensoo. If you even cannot understand you are in a 15th century building, well, what can I say more? There are more than 270 reviews here that can speak for the quality of our family run business.
But it was fun reading your review, so thank you and arrivederci.

Excellent location, very close to everything. “Live like a local” kinda experience. You feel at home when you enter this small hotel, and we also understood why: it’s a real family run business: we met the owner, a lovely lady who made us the best breakfast ever, her smiley daughter, her talkative son and also her professional sister! Everybody is there to make you feel welcome.
Breakfast is served at the table (no typical buffet!), and each day you get something new. You want an experience, this is a great experience.
We also enjoyed the combination of the décor, the art, the fashion store and art gallery.
Very strongly recommend.

Positives:
1)No doubt the hotel has great location and beautifully designed rooms .
2)Staffs are also very helpful and relatively easy to deal with .

Negatives:
1)We arrived around 5:00 pm and there was no one to let us in as there is no reception and u enter the hotel through a store front which was closed! We waited around 10 minutes until someone responded and let us in .

2)Once we checked in we found that there is no elevator and we need to drag the luggage to the 3rd floor..

3) Air-conditioner was very noisy ( I mean really loud weird noises) so we couldn’t sleep the first night , told the staff and they said it is normal! Then we decided to leave the windows open during night which meant we couldn’t sleep before midnight and were up at 7:00 am as the street was very noisy ( people, cars, etc)

4) Breakfast was always a challenge . There was no menu and we never were given options to chose from . You should eat what was chosen for u and those choices was not standard( shrimp salad, smoked fish,...)

5) They chose to have refillable dispensers for shampoos and soaps which is great but during our stay they never replenished so we ran out of shampoo and soap after day 3.
Replacing/replenishing coffee and tea supplies in the rooms was also not consistent.

Overall that was not what I expected from a highly ranked hotel. I can say this place has a lot of potential but definitely will not get high ranks from me the way it is today

Dear Niloofar M,

Thank you for your feedback.

We are very happy you found us very helpful and easy to deal with. We are a family run business and we love spending time with our guests.
We are also pleased that you enjoyed the centrality of our location, right in the heart of the old town of Locarno!

I see however you pointed out there were some negative points, which I see mostly are probably misunderstanding.

Regarding the check-in, we explain in the confirmation that we are a family run hotel, therefore we do not operate a 24 hour reception and we kindly ask to inform us as early as possible about your arrival time in Locarno. However there is a doorbell just outside the main entrance…please next time if you don’t see us, use it.

Yes, we don’t have an elevator. It’s a 15th century property and unfortunately it’s not possible to install one. But we never published we have an elevator. We clearly state there is no elevator on our website and in the confirmation. And, just to be clear, there is no 3rd floor. We only have 2 floors. You were on the second floor.

The air conditioning was installed brand new last July, anyway thank you for your feedback. We will check your room with a technician.

Regarding the breakfast, we are very surprised you wrote that since we constantly asked you if everything was ok and you seem very happy. Yes, our breakfast is different. Everything is fresh and prepared at the moment. There is no buffet, everything is served at the table and each day you get a new menu. We are proud of the feedbacks we get from our guests here in TripAdvisor and on other platforms.

I hope this helps

We stayed here for 1 night and didn’t enjoy very much of the hotel or our room.
In the email confirmation it said we would be welcomed with a cold drink. It never happened.
The air conditioning was terribly noisy so neither of us got a good sleep.
We were traveling by car and the parking spot was about 3 blocks away which is terribly inconvenient with luggage.
Our email confirmation from this hotel indicated that breakfast was included but when we arrived, we were told that it wasn’t.
When we tried to check out at 8 am (the earliest check out time), there was nobody around to leave our key with. So I sent an email indicating where I left the key.
Certainly if you have a car, I would not recommend this hotel. I hope that others have a better experience than we did.

Dear Lora M,

thank you for your feedback.

I'm quite surprise about your feedback, since it came out of the blue.

Yes, we didn't welcome you with a cold drink, that's because it's not that hot anymore and we prefer to welcome your with a nice hand towel.

The air conditioning was installed brand new last July, anyway thank you for your feedback. We will check your room with a technician.

We are in the heart of the old town of Locarno, and, as for all historic centre in the world, there are few parking sport available. Anyway the public parking is 5 mins on foot from the hotel, and we state in our confirmation we send to the guest: "The car park ticket will be given to you upon arrival. Please leave your luggage and COLLECT IT BEFORE parking your car."

Regarding the breakfast, I checked and I can confirm once again it was a "room only" rate, as we explained during the check-in. We also offer you a discount for the breakfast, which you declined.

Thank you for letting us know where you left the key. Next time just look for us. At 8.00 we are in the kitchen preparing breakfast. We will be happy to offer you a nice espresso.

I hope this helps.
