We stayed there in Nov 2008.( I am late doing this!! --I had to pick Nov 2011 in the drop down menu below as the corretc date wasn't there and it was a required field).
I found Schleusenhauson the internet after doing searches. The owners were wonderful. Responded to all questions and inquiries. I felt like I knew him when we arrived.
The place was wonderful, amazing, spacious, picturesque, close to walk in the town and on and on. Nothing but positive things to say.
We were a group of people traveling together from Canada but we were not all related. There were 6 of us. Lots of bedrooms and space for everyone. When we wanted to be together there was a great TV/ reading room where we talked, played cards, games etc. We ate many meals in the fully set up and spacious kitchen. You could pick up anything you needed close by for groceries and you could also buy fresh bread, cheese etc. nearby. We loved spending time in the kitchen in the evening after we came home. We had 2 cars and there was plenty of room for us to park.
We walked around a lot in the area and often walked into town. It was beautiful.
We did day trips from there and things worked out well. We had plenty to do in the area with sightseeing, shopping, eating , touring etc.
Everything with the Chalet was great. It was a neat experience to stay there. The views of the town, mountains and river were beautiful. It was private and very quiet.
It was well set up...didn't lack for a thing and it was very clean.
Ohhhh...when can we return would be my question!!
Well the whole experience was overwhelming.
A river by your side with a scenic mountain view from every room.
Interlaken: Schleusenhaus: "A river-side chalet! A dream come true..."
Date: 24th May 2011
We booked this chalet for a 4-day stay because it was a fully functional house, close to Interlaken West station.
We were a family of 8 from India, the group including 4 senior citizens & 2 kids, on our 1st trip to Switzerland. We stayed at Schleusenhaus in the last week of May'11 for 4 days. Believe me when I say that our stay here remains the highlight of our trip!
Its a comfy, fully functional 10-bedded chalet with 3 double rooms & 1 big bedroom with 4 beds! There is a TV & computer family room with complimentary internet. There is a kitchen & dining room with electric hob, chimney, microwave, oven, dishwasher, fridge et all. There are 2 bathrooms/WC, one has washing machine & dryer in it, with running hot & cold water. The big bedroom has a pretty attached balcony overlooking a lovely garden. River Aare runs beside this chalet built in 1803! Wow!!
The house was perfect, very comfortable, located on the first floor of this chalet. The owner's mother lives on the second floor & was of great help. The beds were very comfortable too. There is a supermarket Denner located at the corner too for ease of buying fruits, bread, milk & grocery.
As we all are vegetarians, we had taken ready to eat (heat & eat) packets from India which served as our dinner for 4 nights! We also took powdered milk, sugar, tea packets, coffee, instant popcorn, soup packets, snacks etc. This helped us save considerably on our dining-out costs there & all this was possible only because of this fully functional home!
It felt entirely like our own house :-) We were sad to leave in just 4 days & would have loved to stay for a longer duration. Its very rare that you find such a quality accommodation with all possible works included. Words are not enough to describe our incredible experience there.....
