Located in the city center. Quite large, majestic and significant. Interestingly, you can climb the balustrade of the Cathedral and the tower (for a fee). At the top you can see stone carved figures decorating the Cathedral from a close distance. Also on top of a wonderful view of the city and the river.

Lovely cathedral to visit, free to get in. Architecture is stunning , high up so from the terrace at the rear you get great views of Basel and the river , also at the rear it has steps down to a ferry crossing for the short trip to the other side, a don’t miss when visiting Basel

Not to be missed. Highly recommended. The cathedral has an interesting history and dominates the hill overlooking the city. Great views outside over the river.

I went to Basel in a rainy day and felt so pissed off because of the weather. But I decided to take a stroll around the river and found the Basel Munster very quiet and lovely. It is not special, since I've been to a lot of church before, but still love it.

So if you are into organs the minster in Basel has a cracker. There are recitals over the summer (I went last Sunday at 6pm) and the resident organists plays at 12.05 during certain months. Check out the website and don’t be surprised if the place is almost full!
