Crazy crowded in August for Palio and summer but Siena is one of the most atmospheric ancient towns I have ever explored. Loved it just book what you can on line to avoid queues.

Lovely, atmospheric, fascinating, intimidating, inspiring your imagination. Walk round, get lost, have lunch or dinner, visit museums, learn about the towns rich tradition.

This “a-maze-ing” historical city center is… Um, amazing. It reminds me of the medieval Tallinn, Estonia. Only, the Italian ambiance is more evident. I thoroughly enjoyed wandering about the maze-like cobblestone streets. Turn a corner, and there’s a building dating to the AD1200s. Palaces (palazzos), architectural masterpieces, and my favorite: gelato. Yum! Take a few hours to wander about the town. You’ll never know what delights await!

this is where they hold the famous Palio horse race. If thinking of travelling here ,do watch the film all about this most famous of races held every July and August. Interesting and very political and corrupt

A great medieval and charming small city to wonder around and get lost. Great place to shop and spend a day walking and discovering the medieval streets. Visit to the Siena Cathedral is a must!
