Booked this property to be away from the tourist trap of Lucca.(about 5km)
Rooms maybe a little bit dated but otherwise clean and tidy. Set on a small private estate it definitely gives you a feeling of freedom, Plenty of private parking , Pool was a bonus.
Air cond worked no issues there, Breakfast selection although slightly limited was set in a glass enclosed building overlooking the grounds attached to the original building.
I would be recommending this property.

This is a nice hotel well located for Lucia and Pisa. The room and bathroom were comfortably Tuscan rustic. Clean and pleasant. The welcome and staff helpful. Parking excellent. Why the disappointment! The web site is a triumph of marketing style over substance - it does not give an accurate picture which is a shame as it is a good place. The restaurant is a very pleasant space but the menu and execution are patchy. The service is good. The air con did not work but was fixed for the day after. No reason to not stay here but don’t expect the web site hype.

We booked Villa Marta for a four night stay to celebrate our Mothers 80th birthday. We wanted a small boutique hotel not too far from Lucca which was informal but sophisticated and with great food. The staff were welcoming, helpful and engaging without being too visible. We had one evening meal on the last night which was delicious and the local wines recommended were excellent. The rooms were very comfortable, clean and quiet.

Just returned home from another, extended stay at the Albergo Villa Marta. As ever, wonderful. Took a room in the main building, first floor overlooking the rear gardens and mountains. Room was well appointed, spotlessly clean, cool and beautifully furnished. Efficient aircon helped. Shower was powerful and good selection of toiletries provided. In-room safe available and wifi worked well. Good to see the hotel still offers a small selection of reading materials in multiple languages. Very restful overnight. Pool was refreshing, clean and rarely busy. Since last year’s visit we see they have built a new glass fronted and ceilinged dining facility. We took breakfast here daily and enjoyed dinner twice. This is a lovely light, airy room giving panoramic views out on to the gardens and surrounding countryside. The ability to open the sliding glass doors is a bonus. Breakfast is offered on a central counter which allows guests to navigate their way around the selections very well. Once again, hot and cold selections were available, including eggs, cereals, fresh fruit, pastries, preserves, cheeses and meats. Staff ensure coffee cups are replenished on request. Tables are suitably arranged allowing lovely views out and privacy. Dinner was first rate, with interesting choices at each course including octopus, cod-filled pasta tubes, aubergine and sole. Pistachio parfait is highly recommended for dessert. Interesting selection of wines available including local.

The Albergo is a very tranquil place. Elegant, understated without being stuffy. All of this is made even better by the very kind, attentive, friendly and above all professional staff. Pasquale in particular, who manages the bar and restaurant is very attentive and knowledgeable and the team works very well together for the benefit of guests. Reception staff are also very helpful and always have time for advice (e.g. about places to visit) and a chat. We appreciated the fact that 2 mirrors have now been placed at the entrance to the property, assisting drivers exiting on to the road. This is a great place to stay for a short or longer period, depending on your itinerary and needs. It offers an excellent base of course for Lucca (10 minutes drive) and Florence (1 hour+ train) as well as numerous other towns and villages inland as well as on the coast including Viareggio. We particularly enjoyed visiting Torre Del Lago (Puccini’s summer home) and Montecarlo (hilltop town, interesting walls, church and superb views). The ‘Devil’s Bridge’ en route to Barga is also interesting and the drive takes you through some stunning and dramatic scenery. Took us about 40 minutes to drive to and from Pisa airport at non-commute times. Thank you once again to all of the staff and management at the Albergo Villa Marta. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Albeit a little tired, this villa is lovely. The staff are so wonderful. Our room was pleasant. Bed comfy, aircon effective, shower fantastic! Great wifi. The breakfast was perfect. Parking really good. Very convenient drive into Lucca walled city.
There is a little chapel that has been converted into a suite. It is stunning. So if you like something really special & quirky, give that a go!
