Artemio Franchi is the home of Fiorentina. You can reach it easily by bus leaving from central station. The stadium has history, however it needs a bit renovation after all those years. The amenities and food options are limited. It is not an ideal match day stadium unless you are a fan of Fiorentina...

It is an old stadium with none of the modern amenities of most American stadiums. However, the views of the Tuscan countryside are remarkable and the site-lines of the field are among the best in Italy (NO track!!!). The fans of Fiorentina are not quite as passionate (or crazy) as those in Rome, but the flags and songs are a sight to see nonetheless.

Firenze Viola's home field is a football fan's dream to cheer for the home team. The north end Curva Fiesole is the place to be, if you want to be with singing, chanting, flag-waving, boisterous, happy fans. And that includes women and girls of all ages plus the requisite men and boys of all ages!

While the stadio is not downtown, it is but 15 min. away by city bus. Take the #17 from the train station, or if you time it right, the #52 express bus from the same stop.

BTW, you do need to get a ticket at the ticket office located 2 blocks away from the stadio. So get off the bus at the stop Sette Santi, line up, and provide your photo ID to buy a ticket. Yes, I kid you not, your name is printed right on the ticket and the stewards do check your ID before they'd let you through.

Oh, they also frisk you. I am sure it is to prevent hooliganism and I am all for it, as it ensures everyone has a good time at the match.

We went for the Fiorentina v Roma, Serie A match. The stadium itself is run-down and pretty dated. The atmosphere was decent, as we were near the away section and they were pretty rowdy. I was surprised the place wasn't more full with a club like Roma in town. I felt safe, as security are everywhere and they are very strict about you only going in the specific gate nearest your seat. Beers are cheap, which is nice. Didn't visit the restrooms so not sure what those are like. It was a fun match and a good experience but the stadium itself leaves much to be desired.

Stadio Artemio Franchi is an average stadium - I definitely expected more, it is an old and badly maintained stadium. The tifosi of ACF Fiorentina are great and you can visit a game just because of them, however if you have visited some of the best stadiums in the world this one would not impress you at all.
