Owner description: Palazzo della Signoria, better known as Palazzo Vecchio, has been the symbol of the civic power of Florence for over seven centuries. Among the works of art safeguarded in the museum: the Cortile di Michelozzo; Michelangelo’s celebrated Victory in the Salone dei Cinquecento; Donatello’s Judith in the Sala dei Gigli; the private rooms of the Medici court and among these the marvellous Cappella di Eleonora, the chapel with paintings by Agnolo Bronzino.

The palace is quite impressive and offers some beautifully decorated rooms. That said, it's exactly what you'd expect from a palace that was owned by the famous Medici family that ruled Florance for decades. It's interesting to visit this place when you have the time for it and are interested in history, otherwise I would recommend to do something else instead.

We only took the tour up the tower (10 euros pp) as we didn't have time to visit the Medici family's house, but the few rooms we could see on the way to the tour were very richly decorated and make me think it is really worth a visit. The view from the tower is really amazing as you can see the Duomo and all the city from just above the roofs and there is practically nobody. We did have to wait about 30 minutes in the palace before accessing it but no biggy.

If you are going to hit a lot of these, get the Firenze card. It varies in its ability to get you in fast from super awesome at the Pitti Palace to crap at the Duomo, to pretty good here.

To be honest, I saw so many great museums, all 5 star, that I hesitate to be specific because I'll found out I'm referring to something from another museum and look like an idiot.

Just trust me, this is another must do.
