This gem has a passionate chef, a simple and clean environment and some of the most wonderful soulful food. Antonio’s passion for his craft is palpable in his story telling and his love for food and wine. An absolute must if you love food which is unpretentious and honest.

Hidden restaurant situated in the tiny little streets of the historical centre of Florence. Great authentic Tuscan cuisine. Antonio (the manager) is a great storyteller when it comes to wine, very cheerful & friendly!
I highly highly recommend this place! :)

We were wandering down a narrow side street and discovered Il Ricettario. It is a cute little restaurant with a modern décor. Looking through the window we saw a nice young man stands attentively by his customers. We also saw a beautiful cheese platter with cold cuts. We decided to come in to have a glass of wine and some appetizers. Antonio was the proprietor that greeted us with a warm smile and gave us a passionate introductory about the menu and how it’s evolved.

Antonio shared with us that he has spent most of his adult life and professional career working in restaurants and hospitality, and falling in love with Tuscany and Tuscan cuisine. Il Ricettario menu are a collection of recipes from "Tuscan Grandmas!" handed down from many generations, made up of fresh ingredients from local farms. It covers Tuscany's three regions -- mountains, plains and sea. Antonio suggested for us to try food from all 3 regions. Stracotto, Cacciucco, and wild boar in Salmi. Antonio recommended a bottle of 2015 Chianti – Felsina to pair with our meal and it couldn’t be more perfectly. You can taste the freshness in the ingredients and it was definitely cooked with love just like the way my grandma would. We highly recommend this restaurant and we will definitely come back to see Antonio and try new dishes since it change daily.

We simply loved our experience at Il Ricettario. The food and wine were amazing!! Antonio is very passionate about authentic Tuscan cuisine keeping the menu simple and explaining the food varieties that are classic dishes of the Tuscan region. We were also lucky enough to be given a wine tasting and Antonio carefully took us through the Tuscan wines (which were delicious) to suit our tastes and that of our dishes. This was a great experience for us, I highly recommend!
