A quite long, though lovely, late afternoon walk from Santa Maria Novella, through the charming and attractively named street "Via delle Belle Donne", (Gorgeous Women Road), go straight away to Via dei Tornabuoni and you'll end up on Santa Trinita Bridge just in time to admire the stunning sunset in the middle of the crystal-blue waters of the Arno river:. On your left, you'll enjoy the amazing sight of Ponte Vecchio bridge, still hit and lazily lit by the last sun beams of the closing day, and on your right you'll enjoy the breath taking view of the Alla Carraia bridge, which at this time of the day is totally merged in the blue light of the "magic hour" at twilight. After enjoying such a lovely and unforgettable view of one of the most beautiful places in the world, not far from Palazzo Pitti, take a walk of just few more metres and have your typically Florentine dinner at La Mangiatoia, in Piazza San Felice 8. I've just been there and tasted my "Maltagliati al cinghiale" (large handmade pappardelle pasta with wild boar ragout sauce), and it was delicious, served with red local wine and parmigiana di melanzane (eggplant pie). The price is definitely OK, about 20 euros per person, and, if you prefer, you can also sit at one of the tables outside, in a small yard where the air is still warm and agreeable in Florence at this time of the year.
Have a nice and lovely late afternoon and early evening in Florence, Italy!
ps: Roberta is the nice and really "bushy"-haired girl waiting tables, she's friendly, really kind and she likes singing along while working! The owner at the cash desk is really kind and helpful!

We got there while wandering in Florence. Looks inconspicuous but it is very good restaurant. They have good pizza, salads and pasta. Very tasty. Good choice of wines and some beer too. Waiter was very friendly and spoke English. Prices were very reasonable. A very nice hour.

We ate there for Lunch.
4 mains + 1L of white wine was 45 euros, and that was also with free drinks and snacks at the start...
The staff was charming and very attentive to our requests. The decor is traditionnal.

I had some pasta cooked with wild boar (Tuscany specialty), excellent ! The rest of my party, had chicken with roast potatoes which was very nice. One, had a dish of strips of chicken cooked in a citrus fruit sauce and salad, and commented it was divine !
Can't complain on the food quantity and quality for this price. best value meal we had in 4 days...

Whilst visiting Florence last week, the crowds and plethora of “Italian” tourist pizzerias and pasta places we came across this haven of peace.
We wound our way back through the various eating areas and sat in the interior courtyard.( our only slightly negative comment was it could have been made a little more exciting) and a lovely waitress gave us the menus.
My friend ordered Rabbit which she proclaimed delicious and I ordered Pork loin...lucky me, I got the outside tasty part..a very decent sized piece which had been roasted with herbs and was succulent and tasty. It came with delicious cubed od roasted potatoes.
We loved it. I think we were the only non locals in at the time and it was a haven of peace. The front take away place looked scrumptious too.I am hanging on to their card so when I return, I will find it again.

A lovely off the beaten path place, that we stumbled across when returning from the Boboli Gardens. Locals eat here, and they know why. The food is excellent, the drinks are affordable and the service is pleasant. We paid about 25 EUR (which is insanely cheap for Italy, or Florence) for a lunch for two including the drinks and we had a fantabulous meal! Had lasagna with the ragú bolognese and calzone. Delicious. Definitely find this place and give it a go!
