Description: Around the tables of "Il Latini" friendships are interwoven, all the world's languages are spoken, fervent discussions are held and everyone tastes food that has the flavour of the old times past. Il Latini means tradition: a means of discovering Tuscany and its people. The kitchen is where the best products of Tuscany's countryside are turned into the dishes typical of the tuscan tradition. Il Latini's kitchen was originally the kitchen of Narciso's wife, who used to take the dishes from her home to the cellars in Palazzo Rucellai where tables were set. Sora Maria's cooking was made of ingredients and flavours typical of tuscan cuisine, simple and genuine food that nowadays are still a characteristic of the restaurant. The flood in Florence did not spare the tavern, which continued nevertheless to serve warm dishes Florentine citizens among the muddy streets.

Placed in the city centre, Il Latini is a traditional trattoria, easy atmosphere and kind staff. We had as a starter mixed salami, ham, bruschette - one portion is enough for two people to share - amazing steak with caponata, potato and salad on the side. We paid 90 euros for two people included some house wine and cantucci to finish.

The only negative point, that might depend on the personal taste, is that I found cured meat and vegetables very salty and definitely a big abundance of oil. It’s not a place where you can order something light, or have some grilled vegetables.

First of all, yes, this place does cater a bit to the tourists. But not in a bad way! They were BUSY but it really created a nice atmosphere. You absolutely need reservations if you want to go, so be sure to book early!!

We read about the Tasting Menu from other reviews, but it isn't offered on the menu. I can't remember if we mentioned it in our email when booking or if we just told them when we arrived. It was expensive but I don't recall how much. 60 euro? Regardless, it came with so much great food with at least two bottles of house wine, it was absolutely worth it. We ate soooo much. I highly recommend it, especially early into your travels so that you can get a taste for some Florence food!

Got there as it was opening for the evening. Just as well as wouldn’t have got in if we had left it another 10mins. Obviously a very popular restaurant. No wonder food was excellent and service to match. However the Restaurant prides itself on friendships being made during the evening. The tables are close and whether or not we subconsciously did it we started chatting to the two tables next to us and just had a brilliant night.everyone leaving as friends. Wasn’t particularly cheap but well worth a visit. Book before hand though.

We had a delightful fixed-price dinner for 60 euro--all you can eat and drink, including wine. We sat in the basement wine cellar, too, where it was cool and delightful. Crowds wait outside to get in, often with little order, so make a reservation well in a advance.
