The apartment is very spacious, quiet, comfortable, clean, and, as others have pointed out, recently and very nicely renovated. The price for the apartment is extremely reasonable. On the upper floor, there are two windows that face the street and let in sunlight, but not so much as to make the place too warm. In fact, the apartment it is a bit dark which is typical in such homes, but there are plenty of lights throughout the house. If you want to sit outside and people watch, it is a short, but steep, walk down to the Piazza Signorelli, Piazza Repubblica, and Via Nationale, where is there are many places to sit and have a drink, snack, or meal al fresco. Luca’s and his family were easy to work with and very helpful. If you come by car, you will have to park it in one of the parking areas outside the city walls. Cortona’s roads are narrow and steep, so don’t plan on driving within town—leave that to the locals. I should mention that, if you are not in good shape or have bad legs, Cortona is probably not for you. It is very charming, but little of it is flat. Luca arranged transportation for us and our luggage from the car to the apartment and back when we checked out. Thank you, Luca!
I spent four weeks at Luca's rental in May and June last year. It was perfect. It was close enough to town to be able to easily walk to every restaurant, the grocery store, the butcher and both Piazza's. The town is lively, but the apartment is also far enough away to be quiet when any event was happening.
The apartment has everything you need. Comfortable bed. Cable television. WiFi. Washing machine (with a line outside for drying). Fully furnished kitchen.
Luca, the owner, was available every time I needed him, but was never intrusive.
I love Cortona, and this apartment is perfect for an extended vacation.
Our expectations were exceeded in every way. My wife and I had a delightful two weeks in Cortona, staying at this apartment within the city. Pre-trip communication with Luca was excellent. The lovely fruit tart made by his wife was a really nice welcoming touch. The apartment is located on a tiny side street very near the town center, so it is quiet, but with ready access to the many excellent restaurants, shops, etc. in Cortona. It’s on two levels, with a bathroom on each floor, one with a shower and one with a tub, the latter being relatively uncommon in Italy. The apartment is more spacious than we had expected, is very clean, has modern amenities, and has been restored using beam ceilings, terracotta floors, and is well-furnished. Luca was extremely attentive and helpful. The best indication of our satisfaction is that we plan to return to Cortona next year, and will stay in this apartment again. Thank you again, Luca!
We had a lovely welcome from Luca and his family including an excellent home made tart.
The house was spacious with terracotta tiled floor and beamed ceilings. It was obvious it had been restored with care and love.
It is situated perfectly just a few steps from the 13th century Church of San Francesco, and five minutes from Piazza Luca Signorelli and then Piazza della Repubblica.
We parked our hire car in a free carpark by the city wall that Luca found for us and he drove me back with our bags. He was very helpful throughout.
I wholeheartedly recommend Cortona and this house!
