We returned home yesterday after a four night stay & was a bit apprehensive before we arrived because I had chosen the hotel & made the booking & the price we paid was such good value, but I needn't have worried because the hotel is absolutely charming, the staff on reception are friendly & helpful & our rooms (2 couples) were absolutely fine & we all agreed how comfortable the beds were. Breakfast was continental with plenty of choice of cereal, croissants & cake but I prefer savoury so I liked the rolls, cheese, ham & hard boiled eggs. Choice of coffee from the machine & the red orange juice was delicious.
The location of the hotel was just perfect. 15/20 minute stroll to St Marks Square with stalls, shops, places to eat & drink on the way & from the last bridge before the Square you can view the Bridge of Sighs.
There are a few bars & restaurants just steps from the hotel & very reasonably priced. The bar next door (can't remember the name) is great, friendly bar staff who speak good English & remember what you drink! Between the 4 of us we had 2 glasses of Prosecco, 1 large beer & 1 vodka & coke (huge measure). Went to order another round & the barman remembered our order. The two rounds came to €37 which we thought was great value. Another great bar is next door again, bar Caste lloyds, run by a lovely couple. We didn't eat there but had coffee a few times. They do a lovely baileys coffee for €7 & great White Russian cocktails for €6. We ate at Nevodi restaurant twice, a bit further along from the bars & definitely recommend it. Delicious food & very reasonably priced.
The only negative thing I could say about the hotel is that there is no tea/coffee making facility in the rooms but I wouldn't mark the hotel down for that but next time will take a travel kettle with us.
Venice is a wonderful place for a city break & when we return I will definitely book the Ca Formenta again.

Lovely small hotel with 14 rooms very close to the Arsenale water taxi stop. Efficient late night check in. Comfortable rooms - although would recommend first or second floor as one of the ground floor rooms was rather close to the smoking area. Good continental buffet breakfast.

Spent four very enjoyable nights at this very friendly hotel.
From reception staff to lady who set out breakfast this hotel did their best to make guests feel at home. Nice tables at front of hotel gives a wonderful view of the lagoon.
Convenient to Arsenale water bus stop and 15 minutes walk to St Marks.

We booked through Hotels.com and clearly got the crappiest room available. Our front desk person was impatient and rude. The room was frightening. One night was one night too many! Note to visitors - check out your room before handing over your money.

We booked 2 rooms for 4 nights. The location of the hotel is wonderful. The rooms on first view are excellent. In one room the toilet was choked up with a block and sat on a lean, the shower screen did not work and water poured out and the door to the balcony did not lock property. In the other room the shower opening was so small even I had to step in side ways and I am only a size 10, my husband did have problems, we asked for an extra pillow which took 2 days to arrive, our safe needed batteries to operate and that took 3 days. The attitude of the staff was terrible.

Room Tip: Ask to see the rooms before booking
