A trip alone, to this fantastic town, simply to be there, and take a few photos. I had to find place in the centre, but not extravagant, as I had no one to impress. Recalling cheap French no frills roadside hotels, I found this. Close to the centre, could easily fall out of bed to go take pictures at 5am.
Arrived about 21.00. Receptionist had waited for me, as I'd told them I'd be late. I was shown into a small room at the rear of the ground floor "the shower room is upstairs", I was told. Hot, no Aircon. Small bed, looked new. There was a mounting bar for a headboard on the wall. One pillow. Old armoir, table chair. Two towels, small TV, basin. In short, exactly as expected, for £30/night, ten mins from Mark's square, brilliant.
Friendly staff, chatty owner, breakfast for €6 and delicious coffee.
Exactly what I wanted. In the near 40 degree heat this year, air con would have been good, but the heat was unusual.
Yes, not modern, not perfect, but cheap, clean, friendly and very central. And very Venetian. More
