Just get out and walk around all of the canals - Grand Canal, Rialto Bridge, etc. Wander through the alleys. I would recommend taking a gondola ride or at least a water taxi to see it from the water. If you head over to Murano it is a nice view looking back.

A lovely peaceful island. Perfect for relaxing at the end of a l9ng day on your feet. There's lots of lanes to stroll down and things to find and just near the Palante water bus pontoon is a delightful restaurant, Tratorria Dom Or I, friendly, helpful and d3licious food.

This is the tranquil side of Venice. Calm, slow, pretty, artistic. Good to meander from one end to the other. Don’t expect loads of shops, just a quiet haven away from the crowds.

This is an island all to itself. It sits across from St. Mark’s and the Grand Canal. When you want to escape the crowds in Venice take a 3 minute vaporetto ride from St. Marks to Giudecca. Here you will find such peace and quiet. Giudecca has been many things - from large palaces to an industrial zone with shipyards, factories, etc. Today it is a quiet residential neighborhood.

I had expected Giudecca to be more picturesque.

The inland is jammed with residential apartments and the Venice-facing front had a selection of cafes and restaurants, but nothing that appealed enough to make us stop.

We walked the width and length of the island, past the momumental former Stucky flour mill and on to Sacca Fisola.

The view back across to the main part of the city was constantly interesting but it would be difficult to recommend visiting Giudecca unless you wanted a relaxed stroll.
