We bought three day passes for the water bus but we splurged for a gondola ride and saw sections of the canal which are not accessible by the buses. Seeing all the sections of Venezia and listening to our singing gondolier was well worth it and a lasting memory.

Simple beautiful view and landscape, you can sit there and admire the place in a summer day, it’s complicated to go if you have children or old people.

We arrived in Venice via the Grand Canal and it was busy, exciting and atmospheric. Historic buildings on both sides and wonderful bridges and the bustle of so many different boats. It is the main ‘road’ of Venice and really worth doing. You can get 1 day or 3day passes which are the cheapest way to travel on the Grand Canal and many of the smaller ones too.

To walk along or boat along the Grand Canal is an amazing experience. There are so many varied and aesthetic views for one to consider. I would say if one only had a few hours to take in Venice, then along and on the Grand Canal would be the fastest and best way to do it.
