Casa di Alessandro Manzoni
Reviewed 10 May 2015

The Casa is right near the end of the the Galleria Vittorio. If you are in luck you can tour through the house which housed Italy's most famous author. Just in front of the very pretty façade is a great statue of the author.

Lovely building but you need to go on a waking tour to find out about it( if you can't go in) so that you can fully appreciate the beauty of the building. It's looks amazing and the detail is breathtaking.

Anyone (that visit Milan or pass for a short trip) must leave this city without visit the home of one of the major Milan habitant in the word (however the origin of his parents wasn't in Milan). The home of Manzoni is maintained and cared until the begin of XX century from a sort of Manzoni foundation. Of course it's not all original like manzoni lived his home in 1878 ( when he died, and you can see his bedroom) but overall if you close your eyes for a moment you could feel easily the spirit of the poet.
-positive points: a permanent exibition of some things (books, handwritten sheets, clothes etc.) belonged to the poet that increase the spirit of the home, his beedroom and his library like he as if it were still in the house
negative points: too short time of opening.

Alessandro Manzoni is the most celebrate author in Italy. He was an author and involved in politics. The museum contains many samples of his works in the simple environment of his home. The location is Lecco and not Milan. Lecco is the south east tip of Lake Como. There is parking in a lot across the side street. The museum also houses the municipal gallery.

The low profile home of the great poet and writer Alessandro Manzoni surrounded by Neoclassical grandeur.
