We found this hidden restaurant and I tell you the food was one of the best food we had in all Italy. I had the sea food pasta I tell you the flavors were so good. One of the best dinner we had and prices were great!

Okay, the surrounding streets are a tiny bit seedy. However, it is close to the station as well as the historic old town of Taranto. This is a true working (wo-)man's trattoria. Nothing fancy, but solid good food (as well as some surprising dishes). When we arrived at 8pm, there were only men present, many with colleagues and still in their workclothes (the industrial harbour is close). Later, some female guests arrived. Friendly, casual atmosphere, prompt service and prices ranging from €1 to €5. YES, per dish! Generous amounts, too.
Actually, we shouldn't share this, because it should stay the way uit is, with only the occasional tourist. So please, only go there if you're really poor OR very appreciative...

Really authentic pizza at a great price. Mostly locals eating here and a family run business. The appetizers and pasta looked delicious, but we were after pizza. One each and a bottle of wine and we were full. They left a bottle of home made Limoncello for after dinner shots - fabulous! Off the tourist circuit, so give it a try

Best pizza we could hope for on our first night in Italy.... so filling we couldn't try dessert! Can't wait to return for the Tiramisu and more dishes. House red not to our liking.
