We took the back roads to Cremona just so we could tour this Cathedral. Well worth our time it was very beautiful both inside and out. The crypt down below is and added attraction. The wall paintings and alter were beautiful. As we walked through there was beautiful organ music . We stayed about an hour.

The Cremona cathedral feels both lovely and accessible at the same time. The interior is not quite as spectacular as some other churches- even San Michele Vetere which is also in Cremona. But the combination of the architecture, the very impressive exterior and the lovely tower all overlooking the central piazza are a wonderful combination.

The Duomo looks impressive from outside especially with it's associated tower. The interior is a bit of a disappointment. While it is a massive area it is fairly dark which doesn't allow the artworks to be seen in all their glory.

A true land mark seen from long distance and when you get to the center and see the great building close and then also from the inside it’s really fantastic. The inside of the cathedral is really beautiful, as beautiful as the high tower is impressing.

The torrazzo di Cremona is the tallest brick belltower in Europe (111m) and is a symbol of the city, demonstrating the skill of the medieval masons responsible for erecting the tower. The astronomical clock facing the piazza is the largest of its kind in the world and is a masterpiece of mechanical craftsmanship. The 502 steps to the top of the tower provide a decent bit of exercise (though there are plenty of places to stop on the way up) and it isn't until you're above the seven bells that the steps become a little exposed for people who don't like heights - but I'd recommend that you do make your way up the spiral steel stairs to the top for the beautiful views out across the city, the countryside and the river Po
