The hotel is about 2 km from the center of Cremona - 10 min by car or about 30 minutes if you prefer walking. It's o.k. to do it once, but cannot imagine staying here and going into Cremona every day (for a longer stay). Parking is in the street and free. WiFi also free. It rained overnight and in the morning there were umbrellas waiting by the door of our room - nice touch, since the rooms are spread out around a courtyard. Good buffet breakfast. Staff a little sombre.

Reading other TA reviews of this hotel makes me wonder if there have been staff or other changes here as I can only give an 'Average' rating. It is about 10 minutes by car from the city centre in a small parade of shops with a take-away pizza parlour next-door and a bar a few steps further along.
Although it was clean, with comfortable beds and the usual continental breakfast, it lacked warmth and was rather soul-less. The receptionists did their job with professionalism but without a personal touch. The bedroom was spacious as there were three beds in it but the bathroom was barely big enough for one and there was that smell .... which we felt could be due to the position of the extractor fan in the bathroom. The room opened onto a balcony area and the back of the hotel. Parking is on the street at the front or round the corner. We paid 70 Euro plus 7 for breakfast.

We spent three nights at this hotel on the outskirts of Cremona. We did not have a car so to get to the city we took a local bus which took ~30 minutes and costs 1.3 euros (bus tickets purchased at the tobacco store). The bus stop was across the street in front of the hospital and it dropped us right in the center of town. Taking a taxi costs anywhere from 10 euros to 18 euros (on a Sunday evening after 9 pm); it is hard to understand what the taxi rates are at different times of the day/week. This means that if you go to Cremona in the morning you most likely will not come back until after dinner making it a very long day. One could eat dinner close to the hotel but the options are VERY limited: two bars that serve sandwiches and a pizza shop—not much of a selection.

The hotel room number 50 was adequate, we asked to stay on the first floor since there is no elevator in the hotel. Room 50 has a wheelchair accessible very large bathroom. The rooms were simple and clean. Wi-fi was non-existent in the room and weak in the lobby. The front desk staff ranged from pleasant and helpful (Santino was very kind and came with us to the pharmacy to act as a translator) to downright abrupt/brusque. The simple breakfast consisted of coffee/croissant for 3 euros or a complete breakfast for 7 euros. Since there are no options in the vicinity we had the simple breakfast at the hotel each morning.

While you stay there you may want to visit San Sigismondo Church (2 blocks away). From the church grounds there is a path one can take for a very nice 20 minute walk. The hotel has bikes that one can borrow at no cost.

Staying in the center of Cremona would be much preferable if you do not have your own car.

Room tip: Ask for a room in the ground floor since there is no elevator.

We stayed here as it was close to where my son was playing football in a tournament. We couldn't have been made to feel more welcome. After a delayed flight which meant we didn't arrive until 1.40am we were delighted to find Marcella had stayed up to great us. The rooms were spacious, with a massive double bed and spotlessly clean. There was a lovely seating area outside with table and chairs and even a blanket if you required. The breakfast was normal continental but the croissant and pastries were fresh out of the oven and delicious. The bonus of English tea made my mornings! One evening we were treated to a taste of the local liquor made by the nuns at the church behind the hotel and delicious it was. Overall we had a wonderful stay here and would definitely return after being made to feel so welcome by everyone at the hotel and Cremona in general.

Stayed here for just one night whilst on tour with a band from the UK. Cremona is off the usual tourist routes, but is well worth a visit. I booked this hotel through Booking.com as it was well rated on that site and Trip Advisor. The Albergo Visconti is just outside the main town on a fairly busy road. We had a bit of trouble finding it as it blends in with the surrounding shops and doesn't have a big sign outside. I recommend you find it on Google street view first! The front of house staff were very helpful, offering to take the bags to the room, providing us with a map and list of restaurants. There is no lift, so if you have trouble with stairs and carrying luggage request a ground floor room. We stayed in a double room which was a decent size and nicely decorated with musical notation. Doors opened out onto a roof terrace. The ensuite shower room was quite small though. There are no tea making facilities in the room, although there are vending machines and for around €5 you can get a refreshment tray. Breakfast was buffet style with a reasonable selection of cereals, pastries, etc. Free wifi is also available. Cremona is a lovely town with plenty of old buildings and history, it is particularly notable for the manufacture of violins.

Room tip: Ask for a room at the rear of the hotel
