Centrally located and easy to find, la Sarmassa offers a menu full of typical local dishes which are prepared with excellence. Elegant interiors and good wine choice. I loved their Pasta alle Vongole variation made with bottarga.

We were in three people and we have to wait up to 45 minutes before ordering. Than after other 20 minutes the dishes came: we ordered two dishes of grilled fish with potatoes but they have an horrible odour. The third dish, instead was ok. The fish wasn’t fresh as the owner said. However we paid all the bill (60 euros) and the owner said us that we were wrong and we didn’t know how to order. The owner was not so gentle.

In what probably used to be a canteen the minimalist renovation did a good job. Cold but not without temperament. The menu is eclectic and spaces on all type of dishes. I tasted the pasta with bottarga clams and hot pepper and I loved it.
Excellent wine list.
But for what it offers it's a bit expensive.

After reading reviews we want to Sarmassa which was a 10 minute walk from our hotel.
We had had a big lunch so we only shared an antipasti cold cut plate which was great.
For mains we had the lamb and the beef fillet which were both excellent! The lamb especially stood out! Desserts were nice too.
The extensive wine list had a 2009 Barolo at only €44 and it was amazing! Would pay double that amount at a Danish restaurant...
There were only Italian guests there which is always a great sign - and the decor is nice, simple and modern.

We booked at this place for New Years Eve dinner, honestly we did not expect a great meal in a busy restaurant on New Years eve, but how wrong we were, OK service was not the fastest, to be expected but each dish was heaven, a great selection of wine and spirits, definitely the owner must be a aficionado of fine wines, single malt whiskies and fine grappas.
I will recommend this restaurant, not for large portions but for exquisite dishes of perfectly cooked dishes.
For a great New Years Eve dinner for four, including two bottles of wine, French Cognacs dessert cheese and coffee a total of 250 euros......Worth every penny!!
