What an impeccably designed hotel in a beautiful location! The Hotel Relais San Lorenzo blends ancient history with contemporary design and conveniences to deliver world class hospitality in beautiful Bergamo, Italy. The hotel is one of the most unique properties I've ever stayed, and the team goes above and beyond to cater to your every request. Special thanks to Gianluigi Galeota, Front Office Manager, for his assistance and personal attention from booking through our entire stay. He was attentive, helpful, kind and responsive. Upon arrival, they even offered us a choice between two rooms, our original junior suite with a balcony or an upgraded full suite. We chose to stay with the junior suite to have the balcony, but both rooms were amazing and incredibly clean. The bed was also one of the most comfortable we experienced during our three weeks in Italy, and the breakfast selection and quality exceeded all others. We did not indulge in the hotel's famed restaurant for dinner, but we did enjoy daily nightcaps in the interesting restaurant located amidst the ancient ruins on the site. The hotel's design and architecture are stunning, and it's easy to see why they garnered esteemed awards and recognition. Bergamo is still relatively undiscovered by tourists and easy to get to from Milan, and the Hotel Relais San Lorenzo is reason alone to visit this incredible location.

Indulge yourself with a beautiful architectural hidden treasury in the very heart of Bergamo alta. What a super experience made of a pleasant atmosphere, courtesy of staff, perfect mix of a modern concept into roman ruins. Perfect to relax and chill out, but still within a walking distance from the centre of town.
Special mention to Gianluigi, who makes reception a perfect start for your enjoyable stay.

We are at the end of the first week holiday to Italy (Lake Como and Bergamo, Malta, Gozo and Sicily. It is also our wedding anniversary as we stay at this hotel and dine at their excellent restaurant. Over the many years I have been absolutely privileged to celebrate my wedding anniversary with my dear wife there have been many happy memories including Raffles in Singapore a few years ago.

But this evening and the stay at Relais San Lorenzo has made life so difficult for next year. Let me try to explain.

The drive to the hotel through the very narrow streets was memorable and embarrassing. Unless booked into the hotel it is not possible to get this close to the old city centre. When arriving at the hotel there is the immediate impact of the historical blending with the modern. How right they proved to be. The welcome was perfect as was the modern room with wonderful views. After settling in the drink on the terrace set the scene for a perfect day.

This evening we dined at their restaurant Hostaria. It is impossible to improve on the ambiance. The owner discovered Historic ruins under his hotels and opted to embrace this challenge by integrating into the restaurant. An awesome site to beyond. However, rather than just concentrating on this archaeological gem the owner opted to Implement a first class restaurant. The young lady who is restaurant manager gave 1st class service with very helpful recommendations. The cuisine was made up of works of art and the service was exceptional, having dined at 1,2 and 3 Mitchelin star restaurants the visit to Hostaria and indeed Hotel San Lorenzo was unforgettable. So what to do next year? Return here of course!!
