The space downstairs, where we were seated, is really lovely and welcoming with a beautiful white and grey vaulted ceiling.
We very much appreciated the hot veggie soup which was offered as a 'mise-en-bouche' and the originality of that pitch black bread (probably tainted with squid ink).
The waiter was kind enough to give me 3 different white wines to taste before I could find one I (sort of) liked! The Nero d'Avola was more convincing to me.
We'd asked for 1x the calameretti with pesto to share and they actually divided the dish into 2 plates, recreating twice -in a smaller size- the yummy crispy basket in which the sexy cephalopods were normally served. "This way you don't fight!", said the waitress. Nice thought.
My seared tuna was cooked to absolute perfection and its crust was scrumptious. The aubergine purée and caramellised onion smear matched the fish heavenly.
My partner's rabbit with mushrooms and prosciutto, wrapped in leek with chocolate and syrah sauce was ab fab! Nothing we'd tasted before and really, really well executed.
The chocolaty dessert wasn't as good as the rest, way too sugary and a bit of a let-down but it didn't matter as we were totally charmed already.
