With his unusual preponderance of five-star reviews, Giuliano hardly needs another one from me. The photo I have added to this review shows the Google 3-D Earth view of the route from the Vernazza train station up the hillside to Giuliano's domain, which is about equivalent to walking up six flights of stairs, something which Giuliano does up to twenty times a day. (Google search for "camere giuliano basso vernazza"). The Google red arrow shows a very wrong location. Giuliano did indeed carry our suitcases up to our quarters.
The stonework, gardening and furniture are magnificent. The views are from the terraces, not from the rooms. Excellent heating was provided and the bathroom fixtures are modern and sparkling clean. But no soap dish in the shower! Books provided but no chair or reading lamp indoors. WiFi is available in a few "non-Skype-hotspots" in the village.
Giuliano provides water, refrigerator space and plenty of info and advice for exploring the area. We took the ferry to Portovenere and enjoyed a great lunch at the Grand Hotel, overlooking the bay.More
