The Villa Ferrari is located in the Garibaldi Piazza section (older part) of Monterosso, east through the tunnel about 15 minutes walk from the train station. There was some confusion when we arrived at the station and no one met us, as we expected, but luckily the girl in the information office knew who to call. Dontatella, our host, arrived and we ended up catching a taxi with our bags as it was raining (but it is a walkable distance if you want) and ascended the 95 steps up to the apartment. Our first sighting was positive. Both main bedrooms and the large living room have very nice window views over the Monterosso beach and jetty area. The kitchen seemed functional and the bathroom was a bit of a squeeze like most Italian bathrooms. There was a washing machine, which was good. The four of us enjoyed our stay and we got used to the steps (you walk up lots of steps in Cinque Terre) and it was nice to look out over the sea but... Both beds were quite firm and not all that comfortable, the oven didn't work, there was no electric kettle or toaster and the shower over the narrow bath had no curtain so water sprayed out over the bathroom when you had a shower. The hot water was good, though. All in all, we loved Monterosso and had a great time, and, if the above concerns were fixed the apartment could easily be rated higher. That said, there doesn't seem to be many apartments in Monterosso that cater for two couples (i.e. two bedrooms each equipped with a double or queen bed) so were are not really complaining, just letting people know what to expect. Thanks.
