There is no word to describe this masterpiece, filled with Renaissance and Baroque treasures. We joined a priority access tour offered by the Disney Cruise, and was able to cut through all the lines in Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel and then enter the St. Peter’s Basilica, went through them all and visited the gardens in half a day. According to the tour guide, it is best to visit the Vatican Museum first, get a priority access to cut the lines, then visit the Sistine Chapel and lastly the St. Peter’s Basilica. Otherwise you can easily spend hours lining up and waste the whole day.

Wow. Never seen a cathedral comparable to this one. The most fascinating structure in Rome. I heard that it is great, but it was more than I can imagine. I cannot tell its majesty. there were great sculptures and paintings. Graves of the previous Popes were also interesting. The only negative thing about it is you have to leave stroller and it is difficult to visit with small children. I don't understand why we have to.

Second time visiting here. Arrived 8am and there was no queue for security so we were straight in. Noticed that since our last visit a few years ago they have put up loads of barriers inside so you can't get close the the baldacchino , St. Peter's statue or the Michelangelo statue.
Went up the dome this time...definitely recommend paying 2extra euros for the lift as there are still a lot of steps once you get out of the lift, also the staircase gets very narrow (surprised they haven't put in a restriction for obese people as they wouldn't fit) . The climb is worth it though with amazing views over Rome . Take water with you.

Luckily I had been inside this place years ago so did not have to join the endless queues and pay the money to get inside. Yes it is worth doing inside if you have never done it or will only be there once in a lifetime but there are so many inside with you it is not relaxing quiet or particularly enjoyable.

Having said that just relax walk around the outside and enjoy the history the architecture and the atmosphere. Still crowded but not early as bad as going inside and great pic opportunities

St. Peter's Basilica in the world's smallest country deserves a visit and it is indeed amazing. The queue looks long but it takes only 20 odd minutes to enter; there is no fee. The inside has a lot of sculptures, art and paintings; all of which are quite stunning. Definitely an amazing experience!
