“Superb!”
Reviewed 24 September 2015 for a stay in September 2015

We have just had the most wonderful week at the 'Design Terrace'. Gildas was there to welcome us on arrival with a very welcome bottle of crisp white wine. The apartment was ideal for us and the location couldn't be better. We spent every morning on the terrace enjoying a leisurely breakfast before setting out for the day, then again back for a late afternoon siesta before going out for the evening. A mere stones throw from the apartment is the wonderful Piazza della Madonna dei Monti which is wonderful if you love to get a taste of local life. We spent many an evening sat at the local cafe in front of the fountain watching the families/friends gather after work. We walked everywhere - no need to catch the metro, just take a good map. As for the apartment itself, everything you need (although we didn't actually cook!), very clean and very quiet (unbelievable really to say you are in the heart of the city). We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place to any couple looking for a fabulous base to explore the city and hope, someday, to return.

“Loved the Terrace!”
Reviewed 27 August 2015 for a stay in July 2015

After extensive research and all the great reviews, my partner and I chose the Design Terrace Coliseum for our 5-night stay in Rome. The apartment was easy to find and we were warmly greeted by Massimo. The building, the grounds and the apartment were immaculate. After renting an apartment in Venice with 72 stairs, the elevators were so much appreciated! The apartment really felt more like a home. It was filled with books and had a great collection of CD's. It was a perfect combination of rustic and contemporary. By far the best feature of this apartment is the large private terrace. It was beautiful morning, noon and night. The owner's suggestions for restaurants and Palazzo Valentini were perfect. This area at night is especially nice as the Coliseum and Forum are beautifully lit. We have already told friends planning to travel to Rome that this is the perfect place to stay.

“Amazing location”
Reviewed 10 August 2015 for a stay in August 2015

The location of the apartment was fabulous. It was around the corner from the Colosseum and Roman Forum. A half block away was a small square with a fountain that had 3 different cafes around it. The place was popular until 2 in the morning (or later). It was far enough away that we did not hear it at all.
It was a great starting place to see all of the major sites. We called an Uber black car to take us out and then walked back.
The intersecting street had a great array of small stores; not just gelato but also a pastry shop, a fruit seller, and a general market.
We rented in August, so it was a little hot to really use the terrace much, but we tried to eat out there a few times. What it was best for was drying our laundry, since there was a washing machine in the bathroom.
The apartment itself was small but functional. It was on the top floor, so we got to see the exposed beams of the old building, which added a great touch. It also made the apartment a little hot for the two A/C systems, which we ran the whole time. The kitchen was functional, and there was a dishwasher, which we definitely used. We only ate breakfast there, but it was properly outfitted to cook small meals.
If we go back to Rome, I would definitely consider staying here again.
Compared to other places the WiFi was better than expected.

The design terrace is an ideal place to stay - very close to the sites yet in a perfect neighbourhood to get away from the major crowds, enjoy local restaurants and bars and then return to the stylish apartment to relax. I would definitely recommend this accommodation and Monti as a place to base yourselves. Please could the birds be a bit quieter at night though!

Our week in Rome and at the apartment was the last week of our nine week holiday before the long flight back to Australia. We had a fantastic time and really enjoyed our stay. It is in a charming area, close to everything and we did not need to get public transport. The courtyard is a magical place to retreat to in a city where everything around you is so busy. It was so quiet in the apartment we could not believe we were in Rome. All in all a great finish to our holiday and we left Italy with many happy memories and a desire to return again one day.
