I took my parents there for a special occasion, we had a lovely time and enjoyed our food very much,we all had different dishes as well, so we tasted a fair amount. You get fagioli con le cotiche as a standard starter, a typical Roman dish, which we lapped up. The Menu is unwritten, the staff know the dishes by heart and you can ask for advice. We ordered gnocchetti, pasta alla boscaiola and linguine all'arrabbiata, and all 3 dishes were plentiful and delicious.
My dad loves tripe, and he said the one he was served was absolutely amazing, perfectly cooked and seasoned. I had the veal with mushroom cream, absolutely stunning and lean, my mum had saltimbocca and they were yummy. As all the plates were quite abundant, we did not order dessert. It is a bit pricier in comparison to other rustic osterie, but you also pay for the name, location and the fact it hosts a famous cabaret. Altogether, I though the price was quite reasonable.
The Puff is always very busy, and its cabaret nights are always sold out, so be prepared for that. Having said that, the staff were fast, although on a couple of occasions I had to solicit them as we waited and waited for our courses while people who had arrived after us had already finished. Hence the 4 stars instead of 5.
