We stumbled onto this restaurant after a visit to the Villa Borghese park and museum. We had stopped at Harry's Bar, but found it over-priced and not that enticing. Within a block, we spied the awning for this place in the distance walked up to it. The head waiter greeted us, and offered us "fresh pizza and fresh pasta". We elected to sit inside, where we were seated in a quiet corner of the well-lit restaurant. After browsing the menu we were just going to order a couple of small pizzas and a bottle of wine. The friendly waiter took our order but as he walked away the owner approached us with a basket filled with fresh mushrooms. None in our party of three was fluent in Italian, but we could tell he wanted us to partake of his fresh porcinis. We asked him how he planned to prepare them; we guessed that he was going to put some of them on the pizza we ordered and he feigned horror. No, he said, he would prepare them separately as an appetizer with olive oil, a little salt, a little pepper. He or the waiter suggested that two pizzas was too much, as the mushrooms and one pizza would be sufficient. The food came promptly as we chose a bottle of local white wine. The mushrooms and the pizza were INCREDIBLE. We kept gushing over the flavors (we had ordered the white pizza with zucchini flowers and anchovies. As we were finishing the pizza and mushrooms, an order of pasta arrived with more of the fresh porcini mushrooms cooked in the pasta. DELICIOUS! It was about this the time we noticed the framed art on the walls which were matchbooks collected from around the world (hence, the name of the restaurant). We finish the pasta, finished the wine, and order cappuccino and espresso. Afterward, the owner and waiter thanked us profusely and we continued on our Roman walkabout. We were quite happy with the meal we had just had, and remarked that we would put this restaurant on our list to visit on another trip to Rome.
