This was a lovely hotel and it was a perfect place for our first night in Italy. We arrived quite early after our Trans Atlantic flight and they graciously allowed an early check in. This was especially convenient for us. The room was clean, and of average size. The gym was nice and the breakfast was typically European ...but plentiful. It is near a bus stop which is also advantageous.

I stayed for a few days in this hotel. The hotel is OK but as the title says it looks a bit tired in the décor and the atmosphere, as well as the rooms. Service and front desk was pleasant and people were helpful and friendly. The hotel is situated away from the center relatively near the Vatican. They offer shuttles to the Vatican. The hotel is set back from the road and it is quiet but do not plan to go anywhere walking. There is a nice park nearby but you take your own life in your hands to go there as you walk on a busy road without sidewalks. In summary anywhere you go you have to take a taxi, use the shuttle or the public bus near the hotel. At night you practically need a taxi to go out for dinner, there is only one restaurant nearby other than the hotel. The hotel is always full of tourist groups and you better not have to ask something of the front desk when one of these groups comes or goes. The rooms are fine albeit if you have a king bed and a second person in the room there is not that much space to move. Bathrooms are bright and clean, the shower is very pleasant but the toilet bowl is too close to the wall and it seems to have the wrong seat. It kept on sliding despite asking for it to be fixed. Breakfast buffet is good and they have a good selection of pastries besides the regular buffet offerings

Dear brozas,

Thank you for your comments, in which you drew our attention to your experience while guest at the Crowne Plaza Rome St. Peter's!

I regret reading that you were not impressed by our Crowne Plaza. As a hotel we always strive to exceed our guests expectations by delivering the best service and maintaining the quality of our product.

Regarding the location allow me to put on record that the Hotel offers a regular shuttle bus (1,50€ one way, 3€ return), greatly appreciated from all our guest staying with us. The bus runs on a regular basis to Vatican Museum & St. Peter's Basilica (nearest underground Ottaviano) in the morning (9-10-11-12) and to the heart of the city center (Trastevere) in the afternoon (16-17-19-20-21) and evening. Moreover 2 different public busses are available just at the doorstep of the hotel to reach downtown which is only 3 km far from our Hotel), or reach the nearest metro station and in 20 minutes discover all the main attractions in the heart of Rome. In addition, as you mentioned, Taxis are always readily available (taxi stand on site in our car park) and cost only 12 euros to get in to the city center.

The Crowne Plaza Rome-St. Peter’s is an urban resort featuring facilities that of course you won’t be able to find in a more central location such as gardens, 25m length swimming pool, pool bar, Spa, tennis courts, large comfortable bedrooms and extensive free parking facilities.

By reading your review we see that you didn’t’ find shops, restaurants, bars, cafes and supermarket available in a small village 300 meters on our left hand side.

We do hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back to our Crowne Plaza in the future and to restore your faith in the hotel and us.

With kind regards,
Davide Grilli, General Manager

We stayed at the Crowne Plaza for 4 nights prior to a cruise. Overall very pleased. It is away from the city, so quiet. Easy access to public transportation, and hourly buses to the Vatican in the mornings and the city in the evening. Only 1.50 E. The front desk was very helpful.

I emailed them prior to arrival to help with information on a Papal mass. He was doing a Canonization mass, and the hotel procured tickets for me. They also sent a driver to pick up the tickets the day prior to the mass. Definitely went way beyond what I expected.

Very good restaurant, Arturo's, just at the end of the parking lot.

Nice piano music in evenings.

Grocery store is 1/2 mile away, although I would not try to walk it in the evenings. Wine there is cheaper than bottled water. We got some and opened it in our room so we did not have to spend $12 for a drink downstairs.

All in all, I am very pleased with the Crowne Plaza Rome. If you want to be able to walk out the door to all the attractions of Rome, this is not the place for you. But if you want a relaxing place to rest at the end of the day, this place is perfect.

I had no problems with WIFI.

The hotel provides a shuttle service with various time schedule. I best advice to contact the hotel to know the exact times or else you'll be standing there for a very long time. Once we arrived at the hotel, the surroundings where just perfect. Location was this was ideal, because if you would have stayed in a hotel somewhere in the city center, i would have gone mad because it can be so crowded there! This hotel also offers shuttle services into the city center for a fee. This is perfect if you are not really familiar with the public transportation system and especially if you do not speak the language, the chances are high that you might wind up somewhere you don't know. It comes in different time schedule and more information you can receive at the reception area. As we checked in, our room wasn't ready yet, and even though we weren't officially checked in .. the allowed us to have lunch at their restaurant and charge it on our room tab which was very nice of them to do so. After lunch, we went to our room, we had a room viewing the swimming pool which was very nice. In general the room was your typical Crown Plaza style room, with the brown, golden, dark red scheme colors just like their logo. It was very clean and it even comes with a bath and your typical free toiletries goodies like those little soaps and etc. The rooms were clean, the bed was comfy and our room even has a balcony with 2 chairs and a table if you wanted to sit outside. The staff was very friendly and helpful, willing to go the extra mile just so you can get the most out of your vacation. What i also like about this hotel and what i think is a great asset to them, is their small kiosk. Because the hotel is 20 min away with the bus from the city center, you don't really find shops near by. At the kiosk you can buy stamps and post cards en toiletries and even snacks and beverages and etc. They even have a small mail box where you can post your cards so you don't have to look for postboxes in the city center. The hotel has a swimming pool which is pretty nice for those hot days when it's over 30 degrees Celsius. The breakfast was like heaven! You walk in, there is this big buffet and not to mention a pastry section as well. It's hard to not gain weight with all of them delicious goodness staring you right in the face practically screaming "EAT ME!" =) All and all .. I love my experience there, it was perfect for my one week vacation. Staff was friendly, room was clean, bed was comfy to sleep in, breakfast was delicious .. I would definitely come back. This hotel is something that makes it all worth it after a long day of sight seeing around the beautiful Rome. I would definitely recommend this hotel and I'll be sure to come back there if I ever decide to visit Rome again.

Room Tip: Ask for the pool view.

we visited rome in the summer time and started the trip in venice. The hotels in Venice are ridiculously overpriced but that's another story and the whole place is surrounded by water so what do you expect! The Crowne Plaza was a great experience. If you are comparing the rooms to a 4 to 5 star hotel in north america you will be disappointed , but they are really nice compared to other spots you'll find in Rome. The property at this place is awesome. Fantastic huge outdoor pool with lots of space to lounge, great outdoor bar and a really nice restaurant with a patio as well. If you are bringing the kids to Rome, this is the place to stay, there's tons of room to on the property and after a long day of exploring rome the kids can blow some steam off in the pool. If you are also going without the kids, this is a good spot as well as the kids aren't allowed to run around and act like animals as the life guards get mad at them and do a good job
