We had to stay at the Relais Castrum Boccea for a business trip, we have been amazed by this truly unique place. The setting is a pure Roman park, and the rooms are displayed in all the antique houses, made of wood and old stones. Charm operates as soon as you enter the room. We feel like living an Antique Roman palace. Rooms are clean, the bathroom is large enough and equipped with hairdryer. Room is big enough, and decorated with antiques. Room 105 needs to be refreshed, but it is quiet enough to spend a very relaxing moment in a little paradise! The staff is really efficient and nice, breakfast included is simple but good. The meals at the restaurant are a bit expensive for the ratio quality/price, more homemade traditional roman food would be appreciated. This place is pet friendly and located only at 20 minutes from Rome's antique heart. Shuttle available. To me this is really a place that deserves to be discovered, surrounded by nature and the beauty of this place, perfect to relax and enjoy a truly unique moment in an uncommon place. Recommended!

When we arrived we were picked up by a very lovely lady with red lipstick (I can't remember her name!) With the shuttle bus. She speaks very little English but she's so, so helpful, the most helpful of all the staff at the hotel. Each day of our stay she took us to and from Battastini and told us where in Rome we were, gave us a map, and showed us which parts were really good to do to. For more complex conversations, she used Google translate, she was just so sweet and treasure to the hotel! We got to the hotel and we were told they had over booked our king suite and asked if we could change rooms on the Saturday for our last night. I said this was fine as long as the room matched the high price I had paid for the room. When we rang Saturday morning to ask if we needed to pack now or later, nobody had any recollection of the request and tried telling us "we couldn't have a refund" ?! .. translation was lost in confusion so we stayed in the room we had paid for and nothing ever came of the request from the hotel. The hotel owner is very miserable and rude and she will argue with her staff members in front of everyone and anyone! It's very awkward and your heart really feels for the staff when they're trying their best. We witnessed this in the restaurant on site, the staff member apologised to us but it was really hard to reassure him that it was okay due to translation. Our room, the suite of kings, was lovely, although everytime we flushed the toilet it leaked and there was a horrendous smell. I had booked a birthday dinner for my partner in the wine cellar and was slightly disappointed by this. The table layout wasn't what was sent to me upon booking, it was very minimal and wasn't celebratory at all. I don't like it when you pay a lot of money for something and you don't get any where near what you've paid for! (Pictures attached). This getaway consisted of a lot of confusion, from the hotel side, they didn't really seem to communicate with each other well. The room states there are kettles, irons etc but none are in the room. Very misleading. I would've given them a 3.5 star.

My wife & I arrived at this hidden delight on the sixth day of our dream vacation through Italy and found it to be SO beautiful. The carefully restored medieval castle-like complex sits not far outside the city of Roma (approximately 20km), yet the location and surroundings made us feel as if we were a hundred miles away from everything. The setting was on the top of a hill, overlooking the countryside and with a fabulous sunset view and beautifully landscaped outdoor areas surrounded by lush vegetation.

Upon check-in, the manager (Simone) directed us up the hill from the office toward what would be our accommodations for the next three nights. As we parked, he walked up and provided assistance as he walked us to our room.

The room was on the second floor, above the on site restaurant and bar. We were asked if we would prefer a room on the lower level, but we declined.
As we entered out room, we noticed the wonderfully rustic stone walls, beamed ceiling, and stone tiled floors, as well as a very nice balcony with table and chairs overlooking scenic the countryside through a stone archway.
All other aspects of the room were very tastefully modernized and with a flat panel TV, Great Wifi, Glass Shower stall, and telephones in the room as well as the bathroom.

Our entire experience was four-star. The staff all throughout proved to be extremely friendly and helpful.
The breakfast offered each day was unbelievable, with a wide selection of fruits, breads, meats, cereals, eggs, juices, and more. Oh... and don't forget the cappuccino and espresso. :)
The restaurant also served up fantastic choices and a wide variety of delicious entrees & sides, not to mention the outstanding pizzas and pasta dishes.
And don't forget the room service for a wonderful romantic meal on the balcony.

We truly hated to leave, but definitely plan to return, for a longer stay.

Room tip: Room 112 was outstanding!

what a quaint little "hideout" place just outside rome! we spent 5 weeks in vieste and tropea. and drove to rome to catch our flight to london. instead of getting up early to drive and fly, i decided to spend a night around the fiumicino airport. there are so many hotels, b&b, VRBO, researching something that meets my needs was not an easy task. relais boccea was actually the 4th hotel i reserved (all other 3 were booked first then i had to cancel after i read more reviews) i wanted a place close to both the airport and rome center just in case we wanted to go back to our favorite restaurant in trastevere. but i wanted on site parking, away from the city chaos, and a quick drive to the airport. relais had all that. what exceeded my expectation is the amenities! the pictures on their site simply do not do the justice. although i booked a triple room, the staff offered a double for me to try. since i knew european bed size usually runs too small for us, i was skeptical.but their big bed is big enough (still smaller than american king) but it is so comfortable, we can sleep in it. the room and the bathroom are HUGE especially for rome. it has the historic and rustic charm i love yet interior furnishing is quite new. everything (linen, towels, blankets) are nice and comfy. the bed, and the shower/tub combo are the best during our 5 weeks trip! to top it off, on-site restaurant is excellent. i had the best pork belly (grilled with crispy pan seared crust)outside china (only italian and chinese really know how to cook pork! ) and staff were kind and professional! our one night short stay made me realize with all my love with italian seaside villages, i did miss the sophistication of a big city such as rome. we told my husband's adult kids that if they ever want a destination wedding, this is the place!

My husband & I stayed here end of May 2019 for 6 nights and we couldn't be more pleased! The grounds of this hotel were absolutely gorgeous and the people were very friendly. Our room was cleaned daily while we were out and one night when we were hungry, they even delivered pizza to our room from the restaurant down the hill. BTW, that was the BEST pizza that I have ever had! We drove into the City Centre every day and the distance to the 1st metro stop was not bad at all. We got to experience the roman countryside which was priceless. They had a free breakfast every morning which was quite satisfying - eggs, bacon, sausage, meats, cheeses, cereal, fruit, etc..etc... The only thing I will say, and it did not bother us at all - was that this is a hotel that is big on events (weddings, baptisms, parties) and it seemed like there was something going on almost every night...I was a little disappointed that we were not really able to go up to the terraces at the top as they were always setting up for the next event. It did get a little loud with the parties but we were not bothered at all. All in all, this was an excellent hotel if you want another option to staying in the city!
