I hadn't heard of this until i visited, but definitely worth a visit. The area is short stroll away from other attractions, but a must see.

A beautiful square, the only minus that there are always a lot of people on it. As crowded as di Trevi fountain.

Excellent views - especially in the morning with cool breeze. there were painters - which I personally think are fake - pretending to be doing real ones but infact i think they are printed pictures and they sit and fool people trying to do something on 'a painting'
My wife was already taken for a ride thinking it to be real - but then we found plenty of such 'painters' with exactly same painting and a paint brush and pod...

There are better piazzas in Rome, though maybe not quite as large as Navona. Be careful if you have a drink at one of the places on the piazza - I paid 11 euros for a glass of Chianti which was nearly double the price in my hotel.

Actually Piazza Navona was ancient roman stadium, built in 1st century AD by emperor Domitian. Here you can see the famous fountain of the 4 rivers/Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi,1651/ by Bernini, the fountain of Neptune 1574, in the north part and the fountain of Mavеr 1576, in the south part. Here is also the baroque church St.Agnese, by Boromine. There are also many cafes and restaurants and street artists.
