The only regret is that we found this place just before leaving Roma.

Cosy little place in the southern end of Trastevere. Really welcoming, food was amazing; we looked around for places doing Ossobuco and found Papa Re. Glad we did.

Service, food, wine all top quality.

Highly recommended.

PS: this place is WAY better than the places rated 1-5 on TripAdvisor in Trastevere....

Certainly home cooked by a cook and not a chef. Have eaten worse meals in many places all over the world. Hard to describe the food but both our meals were okay, (we ate the lot), but at the same time we would not go back. It is a cheap meal made with cheap ingredients and thrown together to satisfy hungry and unsophisticated tastes.
The Carbonara was tasty but very salty, the Osso Bucco very salty too and the sauce was not a nice rich sauce but more of a stew in its own juices. The service is okay, but hard to believe that a waiter in a major tourist area and busy every day did not know what a wine glass was. I think the tourist season is slowing down and these people need a holiday. Wherever they go, I hope they don't get the unexciting food and the tired and bored service we got.

My husband and I had two very good meals here at this family run establishment. Both times we were greeted by beautiful Maria and Marco - two very wonderful young people that work really hard.

We just love their soups here - both the pasta fagoli and their minestrone. Also, their pizza and veal saltimbocca are really terrific.

Prices are very reasonable and they also have a good wine list with low prices.

But our favorite part of our time here was getting to know Maria and Marco. Thank you for making us feel at home.

Nice little place to eat. Prices were very reasonable. However, my waitress was rude and I was trying to figure out if that’s just the Italian culture.

If you decided to eat here just know they stay really busy but I think it’s worth the wait.

After spending most evenings on the other side of the river but knowing that we really enjoyed the afternoons we had spent in Trastevere the previous two days, we headed back in the evening to try and find a spot to eat. We wandered around for a little while trying to find somewhere we felt was suitable and decided on Papa Re as we noticed they served lasagne, which is what I fancied. We ordered bruschetta and suppli to start which were both lovely (pictured) and we both ended up ordering lasagne which we thought would be quite a modest portion given the price on the menu but it turned up and was huge! (also pictured) Very cosy restaurant; relatively simple but really nice evening and lovely food.
