“Very spacious with a great view!”
Reviewed 12 October 2015 for a stay in October 2015

Villa Cantinelle was one of our favorite places to stay in Italy. It sits on the hillside just above modern Pompeii with a nice view of the Mediterranean and the Isle of Capri especially at night. It is a one floor apartment under the owners home. There are no more than 1 or 2 steps to the front door making it the perfect place for anyone who has trouble with stairs. The home is gated adding a sense of security and there is room to park 1 vehicle within the gate. I do not recommend staying at Villa Cantinelle without you own vehicle unless you are willing to walk from the town. I would be very leery about the walk at night because the road to the apartment is not wide at all and there is very little if any lighting in many spots. The apartment was very clean and had plenty of room to spread out and relax both inside and outside.

“Great base for exploring Pompeii, Herculaneum and other archaeological sites”
Reviewed 21 September 2015 for a stay in August 2015

My Family had a very relaxing stay at Villa Cantinelle. Our hosts were charming and inobtrusive and welcomed us with a home made Tiramisu. The villa is an excellent base to explore the area (don't hire a big car some of the roads are narrow). The view from the front patio towards Sorrento and Capri is awesome if a little truncated to the East by a permanently half built building. The appartment is on the ground floor and can be shaded if you want to escape the heat. There is a small supermarket nearby if you need supplies. Take some bug spray for the mosquitos and then go and enjoy this amazing area. Look out for the base of the Busvia Del Vesuvio which is nearby in Boscoreale, short drive from the villa and we were able to turn up park, buy tickets and be on the bus in under half an hour.. The 4 wheel drive buses are the unusual way to get to the top of Vesuvius.

“Charming Hosts - Good value - Great holiday!”

Villa Catinelle proved to be an ideal base for us from which to explore the archeological sites in the area. It was very comfortable and clean and the hosts were charming. Nothing was too much trouble and they gave us a cake on arrival and a bottle of limoncello, both of which they had made themselves. The family live upstairs above the holiday apartment and communication problems were solved by enlisting the help of their 17 year old daughter who speaks very good English. All four of our party were in the 60 – 70 year age range so we were not into late night parties and the surroundings were very peaceful with the exception of a few fireworks in the evenings. It was lovely to sit on the patio with a glass of wine looking across the bay of Naples. There is a half built villa across the way but it does not block the wonderful view! The only real problems we had were accessibility and they were not major! We drove there and put the address in the Sat Nav. It got us close but not quite all the way. This was partly because of the fact that the place is in “VIA CANTINELLE” and I got confused between this and the name “VILLA CANTINELLE” Also it wasn’t helped by the fact that Via Cantinelle leads off another road called Via Cantinalle! All very confusing!
The only real downside was the lack of being somewhere to walk safely in the evenings. There was nowhere except the roads and they were so narrow that walking down them you would be just as likely to be mowed town by the locals who seem to drive everywhere at breakneck speed with little or no consideration for other road users. The excellent and inexpensive Circumvesuvio train station, which will take you to Naples in one direction or Sorrento in the other is only about 1.5 km away but I was very pleased that we had a car to get us there rather than walk through what can only be described as a rally driving course. Good value - Great holiday!

“Homely, very friendly and helpful.”
Reviewed 12 May 2014 for a stay in May 2014

The apartment was very clean and well appointed. The only downside is the difficulty in actually finding the apartment so make sure you have a good sat nav. Approach roads are very narrow but the journey is worth it as property is very secure with great views over the bay of Naples and also Mount Versuvius can be seen from the rear of the property.. Recommend you take the opportunity to purchase the cakes the owner makes as they are superb. The owners are very friendly and prepared to offer advice on where to go, transport etc. we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend it as a base for exploring this part of the country. As well as seeing the ruins at Pompei and Herculaneum, we also visited Mounte Casino (highly recommended) and explored Naples and Sorento.

“italian hospiatlity!”
Reviewed 20 April 2014 for a stay in April 2014

We have returned from a week at villa cantinille with two young children.
The accommodation was clean and spacious and was well positioned for exploring the region by car(train station was a difficult walk). Having stayed in many holiday lets before what really made this one special was the kindness shown to us by the family whom we rented from. They truly went above and beyond to make us comfortable and welcome, from popping down with home made food to helping us out with car rental and travel arrangements. It was all so appreciated.
