“Palatial (literally) apartment in the heart of historic Naples”

Domus Decumana is a truly impressive apartment in the heart of the historic centre of Naples, located on Piazza San Domenico Maggiore. It is well appointed with all that you need for a city holiday with the added bonus that you find yourself living in rooms which were once part of a medieval palace. The photographs show this clearly.

The rooms are really spacious with high ceilings, some of which are beautifully painted. Beds are comfortable and the bathrooms well equipped. The kitchen is compact and fine for breakfast and for making hot drinks but not really suited for cooking full meals. This isn't really a hardship given the stunning array of eating possibilities within a short distance. The balcony overlooks the piazza and is ideal for people watching. The square itself can be very noisy at night with entertainers and revellers. The shutters cut down some of the noise but bring your earplugs!

The location is just about as good it is gets. There is so much to see and do in this lively and vibrant city and much of it is within a few minutes walk of the apartment. The owner, Claudia, was so helpful and informative and did everything to make our stay trouble free. If we go back to Naples we would stay here again!

“Fantastic location and apartment”

If you want to experience Naples in the heart of the city in an apartment that you will experience the beauty and feeling of history than this is the place.
Start offf with the property manager, Claudia was beyond great. The little touches were amazing. Towels wrapped in a bow, snacks to tide you over, city brochures, a local cell phone for you to use. Want to know where to eat from famous to local, she will help you. Need a cab to the airport, she will help you. Friendly and such a great help.
The apartment, antiques and grand piano in the living room, murals on the ceiling, great little kitchen in case you want to cook. Balconies overlooking the plaza, people and music. Can be a little noisy but if you close the inside shutters it's not bad. We were there in early October so weather was perfect. In mid-summer might be a little warm but with the tall (18 foot) ceilings probably ok.
Location is walking distance to museums, churches and restaurants. Some literally steps away.

“Makes you feel part of historic Naples”
Reviewed 25 September 2016 for a stay in September 2016

What a treat to be staying in a Palazzo in the heart of historic Naples. The apartment is beautiful and beautifully appointed from the ancient painted ceilings 8 metres high to the balcony opening on to the square and from the grand piano in the living room to the huge presepe watching over the dinner table!
My wife and I visited with our 18 year old son and the accommodation and location were exactly what we might have wished for including one of the best coffee and pasticceria right on the doorstep.
We arrived during the festival of San Gennaro so there was plenty of entertainment in the Piazza although on one or two nights we might have wished the festivities to come to a close a little earlier!
Claudia could not have been more welcoming and helpful on our arrival, during our visit and on our departure.

“Elegant convenience in the middle of an exuberant city”
Reviewed 6 September 2016 for a stay in August 2016

If you want to experience the chaotic charm, breathtaking architecture, stunning art and infectious street life of Naples from the midst of the city's centro storico – while staying in a palatial apartment that is steeped in historic elegance and characterful quirkiness, this is the place for you. We stayed with our daughters aged 12 and 9 at the height of the August holiday season and immediately fell in love with the apartment and the location. The kitchen's a bit small for serious cooking, but who cares when you're surrounded by so many wonderful eateries? The owner, Claudia, is full of Neapolitan hospitality and helpfulness – nothing is too much trouble. This is a real find for anyone looking for the full-on Naples experience.

“Beautiful old world apartment”
Reviewed 13 March 2016 for a stay in January 2016

We stayed in Claudia's beautiful apartment for 4 nights in January as a family of four. Claudia was a fantastic host. She was easy to communicate with, answered all questions and even provided us with a mobile phone to contact her while we were in Naples. The apartment is very spacious and comfortable. It is full of antique furniture and artworks that give it a distinctly Neapolitan flavour. The kitchen is very small as previously mentioned really only enough to make breakfast and a packed lunch but there are so many fabulous and reasonably priced restaurants nearby that this is not an issue at all.
The only downside really is that the apartment is quite noisy as the square is very lively until the early hours of the morning especially on the weekends but this is probably the case all through toehold city. If you are a poor sleeper this might not be the place for you.
Despite being a bit tired we had a wonderful stay.
