We were very surprised how bad our visit were, compared to other reviews before us!

We arrived in Amalfi as part of our honeymoon around Italy and couldn't wait to experience this beautiful coast. Yes the manager is sweet and helpful and yes the terrace is nice, but we were not able to enjoy all this, with no sleep. We stayed at the room facing the main street.

We knew the hotel were right in the main street but since it's a small town,(and listening to the other reviews) we didn't think it would be a problem. If you are a light sleeper, you will not be able to get much sleep, since there are cars and scooters going back and forth most of the night, along with people going home from a night out.
If you are a heavy sleeper you still won't be able to ignore the trash-van coming in every morning at circa 5.30am sounding like a huge truck and taking about half an hour to get it's job done.

At around 7am an even louder noise started and lasted about two hours - EVERY 2-3 minute. We never figured out where it came from, but it seriously sounded like someone redecorating their living room and moving heavy furnitures around all..the..time..!
I had earplugs but little did it help.

At the last day, we went for breakfast over an hour before it's suppose to end. We were the last ones there (probably because we hadn't sleep for 4 nights) and the lady who had been very nice the other mornings, were clearly eager to get us to sit and choose our food, so we did. But there wasn't more of the bread rolls, no more cheese or even the Philadelphia-type and we were left with the dry toast and some nutella. An hour before it's supposed to be finished!!

This was the worst booking we made on our trip and we felt so disappointed and unwelcome at Hotel Antica Repubblica. We could never recommend this to anyone dispite the cheaper rent. It's not worth it!!

We stayed at Antica Republica in July 2015, with four family members and an aged Grandmother. The service provided and personal support were outstanding by the Manager. We also had a car which was managed with no problem and parked up the street in secure parking for a reasonable price.
The hotel is incredibly central but also quiet which is lovely. There is a great roof terrace for breakfast. Rooms are excellent and hot water all the time with no problem.
The Manager was also very c=good at communicating by email beforehand.
Overall we could not have had a better experience and stay.

This is a charming historic hotel right in the middle of Almafi close to everything you could want or need. The rooms are very big with a couch, table and chairs and a balcony. Our balcony allowed us to look on the bustling sidewalk below lined with shops. Our bed was the most comfortable in all of our travels in France and Italy. My boyfriend and I slept the best that we had on our entire trip. The bathroom was also spacious with a jacuzzi tub. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend staying at this hotel. If I return to Almafi I will stay here again.

Ok, this hotel / BnB is hard to find. its about 150m up from the fountain on the main street in Amalfi. Make sure you read ur directions carefully coz it will save you some frustrations !
the sign on the wall is small.. if you blink you will mis it.
If you have a car be aware that the car parking garage ois about 500m up the street. the main street here is busy.. and you have to navigate the hoards of tourists.. so getting there and parked IS TRICKY.
Hving said that the manager is great. He is a one man show doing the lot. Booking in, helping did bags, helping park, he has to do the lot. But to his credit he is very obliging!
We had a family room which was tight but it was nice and cool (its hot here right now)
You are right in amongst everything at this hotel… everything is at arms length.
We had a great stay in Amalfi. If your looking for those amazing views you might want to look at Maiori of Priano as they both have awesome sea views from most of the hotels AND they are spots that are a little quieter that the big towns. We certainly appreciated being in quieter towns (like Maiori and Priano) They are much better in my opinion.
MAKE SURE you get to Ravello - WOW.
This is a good spot in Amalfi… but there are plenty of good spots everywhere along the coast - with many hotels offering good service and views.
Don't think to hard about this trip.. just book and go - Amalfi coast is great.

Cristian was perfect! He was helpful, friendly and willing to go out of his way to make our stay memorable. Our room was roomy, with a balcony on the main street, which we love to people watch. The location couldn't be better, no sea view, but you don't have the price either. Breakfast on the terrace is perfect. I would stay here again.
