Tried staying in the old town of benidorm for a change, booked Hotel Avenida 3* hotel, I e-mailed them 3 times in advance for a room with a balcony, what did I get? a room with no view and just a window which looked onto the back court, I was very disappointed as I felt very enclosed in this room, although it was lovely and clean, it was no joy not having somewhere to sit at nights. Although my friends booked it after me and got a balcony with a sea view.
The hotel was very clean, fresh towels daily, our room had an upgraded toilet with walk in shower.
Although some parts are in need of upgrading i.e, corridors, lifts and dining area.
The food was warm, although not a very big selection, you could always find something that you like, did not like the breakfast, only spanish bacon.
The hotel was right in the middle of the old town amongst the shops and bars, the bars were fine but there was not much entertainment in this part of town, fine if you just want to relax.
There was also a roof top bar and pool, but if you are not a good swimmer or have kids this pool is not recommended as it is very deep, no shallow end.

Room Tip: Ask if you can have a balcony, and a higher floor so you don't hear noise from the street.

Full Board x 10 nights.
Emailed prior to visit asking for accessible shower and balcony. Received a polite reply stating see what they could do on allocation. Hotel is central location for new and old Benidorm.. Pedestrianised area so 3 minute walk from transfer drop off.
We arrived late in the evening and were greeted by receptionist and given room key and directions. Advised food and water in restaurant when we were ready. Which was greatly appreciated. Couldn't fault the room itself, very nicely modernised and clean. Only window to room which overlooked back of building courtyards. We asked if we could change rooms to one with a balcony and lower. Advised 2 night wait as fully booked.
Good choice of food for fully inclusive breakfast with drinks.
Lunch and evening meal, drinks were charged to room.
Roof terrace as pictures. View of sea, pool water cold but once you were in it was fine.

Only a couple negatives, minor at that, were the following:

Room: Hairdryer was very old style, no good for blowdrying your hair.
Room: No kettle for a cup of tea (yes I am English)

Roof terrace: Beds were uncomfortable, well worn and could feel the plastic frame. Although you can hire a beach towel for 10 euro, with your own adds a little padding.

However, overall this is a great hotel, great staff all round, kept very clean and great food. Yes I would stay again!

Just got back from a 4 night stay here! There were 3 of us in our group, we had a balcony room and a camp bed was added as the additional bed.
The hotel was clean, and the rooms were spacious enough for a short stay!
I am vegetarian, so i did suffer with the food, I asked if the tomato sauce for the pasta was vegetarian, and was told yes, however, found bits of bacon/ham in my food! There was limited vegetarian choice, but i stuck to salad and soup, and chips if i was really hungry!
The rooftop pool was ok, but space was limited and hardly any shade, we managed to get shade on the last day to them be told off by older guests, which was disappointing on our last day, but hey ho, all in all a nice little break.
The hotel was literally 3 minutes from the beach, which i have to say is lovely, very clean and clear water!
We mainly drank in old town, they have live bands, singers playing so it was a great atmosphere.

Stayed at the Avenida in June 2018 for a 4 night break with my friends. The hotel is in a good location near to the beach and the shops. The food was very good although the choice was limited. We were in a three bedded room the third bed was a camp bed and a little firm although the other two beds were really comfortable..Our room did not have a balcony and the view was of more apartments..we were told that you need to pay extra to have a balcony so we didn't bother. The bathroom was nice the towels were changed each day but the bedding was not changed although the maids came in each day. The air conditioning in the room was ok but i would advise you take the key out eachvtime you leave the room..the air con seemed to work better when the key was placed in the slot and not left in all the time..
There is a pool on the roof but the space is limited and there are no sun shades and I would say that it is not really suitable for children although the beach is very close. Overall for a short stay the hotel was very good...it's position to the beach and old town was excellent.. the staff were friendly especially the reception staff and the food was really nice..I wouldn't say it was a 3 plus star hotel but not bad at all..

Stayed for 4 nights in mid June. We had 2 rooms on the 5th floor, rooms were clean and tidy and both had lovely balconies overlooking the front and the sea.
We stayed half board and were pleased to be able to swap the evening meal for lunch as unimpressed with the evening meal. We found plenty of choice at lunchtime and it then left us free to have what we wanted for dinner. Breakfast was usual choices of hot dishes, cereals, yoghurts, pastries or fruit.
Only downsides we found were having to pay for water at lunch and the scraping of sun beds on the roof terrace as we were on the floor underneath, and the noise could start early on. Apart from this couldn’t fault the hotel, lovely place, near to the centre of town and the beach, we would definitely stay again
