We asked for a 5 Star hotel in central Madrid and were booked into Villa Real for 6 nights. There were no upgrades for us, just one bottle of water the first night with a handwritten welcome note! We found this hotel to be old-fashioned, tired and in need of a total refurbish, with no features we have come to expect of a five-star establishment. The bathroom was cramped, the stairs in the room were a hazard, and the room's cleanliness needed a bit more attention. On the plus side the location was good - walking distance to the Prado and Puerta del Sol. The hotel restaurant East 47 was excellent.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking time to share your valuable review.

Your feedback is very important to us. We are sorry to know that your recent stay did not meet your expectations. We mostly receive a positive feedback on our interior and exterior decor designed with the combination of elegance, tradition, art and modern features.

All our rooms and bathrooms are safe and well-maintained. We do understand the decor is a matter of personal choice and a few guests may not prefer the old-fashioned style. If the room was not comfortable and if you need additional amenities including water, you can always inform us at the reception. We are available 24/7 and will do our best to resolve the issue. We are happy the location was to your liking.

We hope to welcome you in the future. All the best.

We had three nights at the hotel, the reception was very helpful and quick, the room was very good indeed and the breakfasts were excellent. We also dined a the restaurant connected to the hotel, the service and international food was excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed the outside sitting area, sipping on gin and tonics or coffee and dessert - the wait staff were excellent. I would certainly recommend this hotel for it's service and quality as well as easy walking distance to the main plaza and all the city attractions.

We were delighted upon check in with the friendly and welcoming staff to learn that we had been upgraded to a suite on the top floor of the hotel. We had a 2 floor suite and a private terrace. The hotel is well located for the museums and tapas bars along Calle Jesus. The art in our rooms was really unique!

Lovely welcome and received an upgrade to a junior suite with a balcony to admire the views. Arrived back after a long day at work to find a complimentary bottle of wine awaiting me and chocolate by the bed.
Breakfast was a treat, it was unfortunate that I only had one night so was unable to enjoy the hospitality longer

We booked this hotel they our travel agent. When we arrived it all seemed nice. Quaint. The trouble was that every sound echoed terribly within on our own room and surrounding rooms. This made for a terrible sleep. One night I had to call the desk to complain due to excessive noise at after 1am. I also felt claustrophobic in the two story suite.

As one other reviewer mentioned, the showers were vet poorly designed and water spilled all over the floor with every shower. No matter how much care you put into trying to avoid such a mess.

The staff were nice. The location was good but overall something just seemed off. I don’t think I would book this hotel again. I would probably try somewhere else.
