during our Spain tour we stayed at three different hotels in three different cities. The staff in hostal Zamora is the best. They know English. When we arrived the hotel, Jose explained everything in detail abouth both city and hotel. He is very friendly. The room is very clean, theshower pressure is sufficient. The balance of hot and cold water is perfect. The location is amazing. Chueca is very popular among the young people. So you feel safe every hour during the day. The air conditioning system is very efficient. We stayed at the first room next to reception. Also, there is a vending machine at reception.

I think in Madrid it is one of the best place to stay.

The only negative hing I remember about it is the TV channels are only Spanish. There should have been some English channels.

You can't get a better location if you want to explore Madrid.
I've stayed a lots of hostels and hotels in the area and this is a great VALUE.
Location on the 4th floor keeps you away from the noise and gives great light and views of the plaza below.
Rooms are a bit dated - but very comfortable with good air conditioning and bathroom.
Best part is the price which is a fraction of the glitzy boutique hotel just across the plaza from Hostel Zamora.

Room tip: We had room with private bathroom facing plaza. Cheaper rooms with shared bathroom may not have a view, so ask if this is important.

Excellent location, a short walk from the main squares and sites. It's a simple room, but all you need when only using it as a place to sleep. Felt very secure, the host was very friendly. Although if the owners spent a little bit of money on freshening up the room, it would make a massive difference (e.g replace the shower curtain which was mouldy)

Coming from the airport, I took the C1 train to Recoletos and then walked 10 mins to the hostal, very doable if you haven't got much luggage, and cheap at 2 euros 60 cents.

I got a lift to the 4th floor, and then met Jose who was very welcoming, and I truly believe would help with anything you needed. The room was very clean, with a small balcony looking out over the plaza. With the shutter down I couldn't hear much noise from outside, although the tv in another room was audible. However, after about 11pm, all seemed to be quiet.

Each time you enter the hostal you have to hit the door bell to be let in, which might irk some, but I thought added a feeling of security.

Gran Via is pretty much around the corner from the hostal, but I also walked to the Thyssen, Prado, Reina Sofia, El Retiro, Palza de Espana etc. quite easily.

Recommended.

I was fortunate to enjoy even for a night the entire room normally rented out to three guests. The room is hard wood floor, impeccable, and orderly. Not to mention it had a great view being in the heart of Madrid. So totally recommendable at an amazing price!
