We visited here after the cable car ride and stumbled on a lovely playground which has been newly re-lanscaped. We were the only ones there and it was really enjoyable. There is also a small wildlife area within the gardens, but you have to pay to get into that.

We visited Alameda gardens on a trip to Gibraltar. We bumped into Andrew, one of the gardeners. He was so helpful, explaining all about the gardens and the work that was being done. These gardens are free to enter and are beautiful.Different areas to admire or to sit and eat lunch etc.Well worth a visit.

The Botanic Gardens offer a lovely tranquil haven from the buzz of the town-centre. There are beautifully landscaped and maintained pools and terraces arranged down the hillside, a miniature animal rescue centre with a variety of orphaned birds, monkeys and other animals, and huge specimen trees many types.

It is also right next to the cable-car base-station so easy to find, and what's more .... it's free!

I enjoy gardens from all over the world and I wanted something different to do on our day visit. I have been many times to Gib but this was the first time I have been in the gardens. I feel that they may soon be going to create more housing in the area. Clean and tidy with even in winter flowering plants. I wish there were more places like this, rather the mad dash up the rock, or shop till you drop.

There weren't too many flowers out in blooms because of the time of year, but the cactus garden is amazing. There are good views from the gardens and it is very clean and easy to get round even if you have mobility problems.
