Description: Opening its doors in 1836 to begin offering over 150 years of excellence, Restaurant de les 7 Portes is truly the most classic of Barcelona's eating places. Here, you can enjoy the finest Catalan cooking in an intimate setting or in one of the spacious banquet halls, accompanied by Spain's best wines and "cavas" (sparkling wines) from the well-stocked cellar. The restaurant is housed in the Pòrtics d'en Xifré, a building declared a national monument and the first place in Barcelona where running water was installed. In 1942, it became the property of Paco Parellada, founder of one of the foremost dynasties of restaurateurs in all of Catalonia.

This one of the oldest restaurants in Barcelona.
Its one of the best restaurants that I have eaten in and try to eat there when in Barcelona.
The staff and service is excellent as well as the food.

Everything here is not above but not bellow of a medium quality. It can be worst, but this is not a good way of thinking in a place like Barcelona. Cold food, irritated stuff, well, maybe if everything is closed around...

Paella was amazing and the mussels were delicious. The server tried to tell us that the paella portion is very small (one serving is one fist - not true). We were still full from lunch but wanted to try their famous dish. If each person will not be eating a full serving, 3 people can easily paella for 2. The portion for mussels, however, is very small - order accordingly or you will only eat 1 or 2 mussels if sharing with 2 others.

Annoyingly, they charge for bread which we did not know. We are bread lovers and had 2 servings but it was very yummy. Their butter is fabulous.

One odd thing is the restaurant seated all the foreigners in the back of the restaurant as if to hide us.

We ordered flan for dessert and it did not disappoint us.

Overall, food is overpriced but delicious and ambiance is nice while service quality does not measure up to the prices of the restaurant.

Very poor service. Normal food . Very disappointed .
This restaurant I have been in many times really dropping fast in service and not justifying the cost . Zero zero service and hope restaurant management can see the problem and change staff for real positive team .à

I made reservations at 7 portals after several strong recommendations from friends. They were made and accepted a full 3 weeks in advance. Less than 24 hours befor the appointed time. I received an email that they could no longer accommodate me. That was very disappointing at that late time and shows a total lack of doubt management practices.
