Owner description: Park Guell is one of the masterpieces of the Catalan architect Antoni Gaudi, who projected it in 1900. Inaugurated as a public park in 1926, it was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1984, reconizing its patrimonial and cultural value as a symbol of modern architecture, being one of the biggest exponents of Gaudi's modernism. This playful urban park, the work of architect Antoni Gaudi, features peaceful greens, winding paths and many sculptures and mosaics designed by Gaudi himself. We recommend the following options for ensuring that you arrive on time at the Park Guell Monument Precinct: - Metro (green line, get off at Lesseps or Vallcarca). When you leave the station, you’ll have a walk of about 20-25 minutes. - City bus (lines H6 and 32). When you get off the bus, you’ll have a walk of about 15 minutes. - City bus (lines 92 and 24). When you get off the bus, you’ll have a walk of about 5 minutes. - Barcelona City Tour and Bus Turistic. When you get off the bus, you’ll have a walk of about 10 minutes. - Taxi to Park Guell

We visited as part of a guided tour of Barcelona. The architecture is definitely something to see. Thoroughly enjoyed! There are a lot of steps so be aware.

We visited this site as part of a Gaudi-themed organised tour, and as such it is a must-see. Even though we were there mid-week off-season (is there such a thing in Barca?) it was very busy, and of course there were loads of school trips bombarding the place. I guess you just have to expect it and put up with it in a popular city!
Sad that the place never really took off when it was designed and initiated; commissioned by Mr. Guell, I believe it was supposed to be a small select housing development in a parkland-themed area, but only three structures ever got built apparently. Those that do still stand are quirky, as you would expect (like something out of Disney), and the other elements to note are the long wavy seating area studded with gorgeous mosaics, and the fountain and steps with the mosaic salamander - beautiful constructions both.
Definitely worth enduring the crowds to see.

Our hop on and off bus tour led us to this wonderful park. We had pre bought tickets for the most interesting thing in the park, the gaudi exhibit. We spent over an hour on the outer perimeter which was cool and the natural environment was a refreshing change from the rest of Barcelona. This was a great way to end the day. The one thing we didn’t realize was how far the bus dropped us off from the park, be prepared for a 10-15 min walk uphill.

We visited the Park Guell site and do not believe it was value for money. If you’re an architect or looking for something ‘quirkie’ this May be your cup of tea but not ours. The free gardens and rock columns above were lovely and listening to a local duo of guitarists in the ‘grotto’ type atmosphere was the highlight of the day by far. Take a picnic with wine and be a happy man. I suggest a photo shot from the front street is all you need as it is the highlight. Construction work to gardens did not help. Disappointed.
