“Very nice town and like the atmosphere!”

This is a very lovely and nice Old Town, one of the few we like. Streets and walkpaths are clean and neat, with 2 rows of beautiful shophouses with nice decors/themes on both sides though mostly are souvenir/gift shops, also have cafes, confectioneries, lifestyle items etc.

It was almost 5pm when we arrived and it was drizzling then. Quite cooling but refreshing to walk around. We decided not to use umbrellas. We strolled the place while heading to visit the Cathedral and love the atmosphere so much. It was very pleasant walk here and time seemed to stop, so laid back and relaxing to walk. It was a shame that we only had about an hour plus here as we needed to proceed for our dinner and how much we wished we could spend more time here. Anyway, we still managed to get some local souvenirs here (don't forget the frog, which is a logo of this city).

From here, a short walk to the Cathedral and also to Plaza Mayor from where most tour coaches will stop for passengers to alight to get here.

This is really nice and a good place to walk, see or even dine!

My husband and I spent two delightful days in Salamanca. Although the weather this year was disappointing, it didn't ruin the holiday, as the city is just as beautiful in the rain. We loved the Plaza Mayor and you can feel the spirits of the past breathing through the walls. The cobbled streets are packed with ancient buildings and you cannot decide which one is the most impressive. There is a great vibe of students and families alike. And to top it all, there are several fantastic restaurants.

There can be no corner of the inner Salamanca area that does not have a stunning building to view. The area is covered with historic buildings large and small all within easy walking distance of the main plaza. Even the newer buildings seem to blend seamlessly with their older neighbours. Definitely worth having a stroll around the area and don’t worry as there are plenty of cafes and bars to rest at on route.

This is the place to immerse yourself in Spanish History. Enjoy the magnificent buildings, cathedrals, university, churches, Casa Lis, House of Shells and oh so many more.

Sit at a café in the Plaza Mayor and soak up the atmosphere of this bustling baroque square. There is always something happening here. Just through the arches to the right is a daily local market.

Outside the square are lots of shops, cafés and restaurants, so there is plenty of choice here for eating, drinking, sightseeing and shopping – something for everyone.
