“Mesmerizing waves!”

Parque de Cabo Mayor
Ranked #4 of 103 things to do in Santander

I just could not get enough of the view at this spectacular spot. The waves crashing into the rocky point were just mesmerizing. Lovely pastureland complete with grazing horses comes right up to the bluff edge and dirt paths enable access to a narrow strip of sand below. Colonies of birds camp out on the rocky precipice beneath the cliff edge. There was even a lone bag pipe player serenading visitors to the park. Enchanting!

Averymoving monument to remember the Falangists who were thrown over the cliffs by the Republicans during the Spanish Civil War. It shows a victim trying to stop himself from falling to his death on the rocks below. Very little information re this on tourist blurb, of course, much more re lighthouse, views, etc. which are magnificent.
I was shown this by a local who gave me a short trip through Santander and surrounding area. I found this extremely moving, but had difficulty finding any information about the details, just loads of info re the lighthouse.

The park has multiple of activities to do and offers spectacular views of the bay area. Go to the lighthouse preferably for sunset, and enjoy the landscape from the cafetería terrace.
