“Beautifully restored traditional chalet”
Reviewed 22 October 2015 for a stay in September 2015

The description said this holiday rental was in a ski resort area. Not the sort of ski resort we are used to and certainly wouldn't want to be trying to negotiate those steep narrow cobblestones in snow or rain.
The property was incredibly difficult to find and the four of us dragged our suitcases around for an hour before we eventually found the place. The owners do have garage space 5 minutes away but you have to find somewhere to park in the first instance in order to try and find the property. We rang the owners after going around in circles for an hour but unfortunately they don't speak a lot of English and we couldn't understand what they were saying. We did find another local who although only 5 minutes away didn't know where the address was either. He spoke to the owners on our behalf and was able to give us directions to get there. If it weren't for him we would have given up and gone into downtown Granada and booked into a hotel. Fortunately we didn't need to do this and we had already prepaid. It turned out that we had already passed the property earlier in our circuitous route but it is not well signed and therefore easily missed behind the locked and gated wall.
The property itself has been beautifully restored and all the owners interesting artefacts are throughout the house. It has a beautiful & tranquil patio (except when the neighbours dog barks). As a tourist to Granada we wouldn't stay there again as it is at the top of the hill and most of what you want to see (except the castle) is at the bottom of the hill. The closest 'square' had some really dodgy people and we didn't feel safe going anywhere on our own.
House is lovely but the area is not. Cobbled streets covered in dog poo and not a safe place to be after dark.

We are pleased that you liked the house although we regret that the area has not responded to their expectations. Indeed the house is not located in the ski resort, Sierra Nevada is 35 km (half hour drive). As it explained in the notice the house is located in Albaycn, the medieval quarter (XI century) located on a hill and characterized by a labyrinthine structure of streets and squares for better defense in wartime. It's easy to get lost if the guidelines are not followed. Currently the district has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, with many monumental routes and attracts people from around the world. It is a completely safe (even at night) and a very low crime rate but multicultural and multiracial neighborhood.

Almudena y su familia son fantásticos, muy agradables y cuidadosos con la casa. Ha sido estupendo tenerlos como huéspedes. La Casa de la Luna se adapta muy bien a familias con niños. Les esperamos de nuevo!
