“Most amazing place!!”

What a wonderful place to stay, I first came out with a large group of friends to celebrate a birthday and a wedding anniversary. I had such a good stay in this great property that I've decided to go back again. The property is perfect, everything you need is there, the location is awesome with some views from the pool to take your breath away, It is the peace that has made me decide to go back with my Yoga students for a Yoga Holiday.

“Enchanting setting makes for unforgettable getaway”

The two weeks that we spent in Almendrillo were among the most restful - and exciting - I can remember. Our children and their friends soon colonised the extensive first floor, with sleeping bags draped across all occupiable space. The adults had ample bedrooms and spacious, white-washed bathrooms.
The generously equipped kitchen was ideal for planning elaborate meals, and the nearest shop was a five-minute drive away. We usually dropped into the Cooperativo de Consumo in Fuente del Conde on the way back, which had ample supplies for carnivores or vegetarians.
Some of us had come to this part of Andalucia to sight-see; others to paint the distant slopes and the endless orchards, heaving with fruit. We found that, with two hired cars, we could accomplish all our daily needs without hour-long house meetings. Some sought Granada, others an aqua-park but we all liked wandering around small towns. I had brought a junior cricket set and enjoyed devising different batting pitches. The table-tennis table received a thorough work-out,
The ever-helpful Andres, gardener cum swimming pool attendant, was also a font of useful information about goings-on in the locality.
Mike and Emma have sculpted an elegant living space out of this already dramatic landscape. The garden is green in summer, the swimming pool is a mere few seconds' walk across the hot paving slabs. And the internet works!
Although we didn't spend any time watching the TV or DVDs (Bring your own.)
Our chief memory of Almendrillo is contained on a photograph that hangs on our fridge door. It is of the cup-shaped oak tree in Almendrillo's back garden. Its low-hanging branches are draped with small humans, their limbs gymnastically attached to its lower trunk. Whenever I look at that photo, I remember both the heat and the immense calm of the house. I would love for us all to go back. It must be equally stunning at any time of the year. In fact, I wonder what it's like around Christmas...

“A perfect week at the Finca”

We spent an amazing week at the Finca in july 2014. Six norvegian families – twelve adults and eleven kids from age 1 to 7 had a blast. We were completely stunned by the increadible views of the landscape, the peace and quiet, the wonderful courtyard, the facilies, the enormous pool and also all the recommendations from the owners, for example the use of the local chefs – who provided excellent food. The six families were just thrilled about this wonderful place and had the best time!

“Beautiful house, stunning location: perfect holiday setting.”

We were a group of 16, including, five teenagers and a few younger children. The road from Malaga airport was quite dramatic, and, as we, eventually, turned off the dusty track that led, it seemed, to the edge of nowhere: had we wandered astray?
Imagine our surprise, then, as we parked our car outside a broad wooden archway and then, under stabbing heat, pushed the heavy door open into a sheltered courtyard that offered immediate shade, tranquility and the chance to recharge our batteries.
The two weeks that we spent in Almendrillo were among the most restful I can remember. The kids soon colonised the extensive first floor and turned it into their own bedroom cum hippy commune, with sleeping bags draped across all occupiable space. The adults had ample bedrooms and lovely, spacious, white-washed bathrooms in which some might have wanted to pass a good part of the morning.
The generously equipped kitchen allowed those of us who enjoyed cooking to plan elaborate meals, and the nearest shop was an easy 5-minute drive away, along almost empty roads. If we were going out for the day, we would usually drop into the Cooperativo de Consumo in Fuente del Conde on the way back, where there would always be ample, locally-sourced delights, whether for carnivores or vegetarians.
The Mercadona in Loja and Archidona are 25 minutes away, but the roads are as clear as the sky.
Some of us had come to this part of Andalucia to sight-see; others to paint the beautiful scenery of the distant slopes and the endless orchards, heaving with fruit. We found that, with two hired cars, we could accomplish all our daily needs without hour-long house meetings. Soon there were parties driving off to Granada to 'do' the Alhambra, or searching for an aqua-park a little nearer to home. We enjoyed wandering around small towns which either repaid a whole day's detour where we could spend a morning before retiring to the ever-more welcome shade and quiet of El Almendrillo. One of us brought a junior cricket set, and we enjoyed devising different batting pitches. The table-tennis table received a thorough work-out,
Those of us who liked to chance our arm at speaking Spanish enjoyed a 'charla' with the ever-helpful Andres when he came to do the gardening or check the chlorine levels in the scintillatingly blue, clear swimming pool. He was also an absolute font of useful information about goings-on in the locality.
Mike and Emma have sculpted an amazing, lush, elegant living space out of this corner of an already dramatic Spanish landscape. The garden is green in summer despite the intense heat and positively hums with the sounds of nature. The swimming pool is a mere few seconds' walk across the hot paving slabs but is far enough away that the childish squeaks of delight need not disturb the adults in the main house from doing some reading, needlework or a jigsaw.
And the internet works! Although we didn't spend any time watching the TV or DVDs (Bring your own): there was too much to do around the house than to sit down and watch stuff.
Our children were old enough to organise their own leisure, and so for hours at a stretch, they would be off doing their own thing, without any cause for anxiety on our part about their well-being.
Our chief memory of Almendrillo is contained within a photograph which now rests, magnetically, on our fridge door. It is of the cup-shaped Oak tree in that massive, beautiful back garden. Its low-hanging branches are draped with small humans, their limbs gymnastically attached to its lower trunk. Whenever I look at that photo, I remember both the heat and the immense calm of the house. I would love for us all to go back. It must be equally stunning at any time of the year.
