We were unsure about this hotel at first because it was not on the beach and we were travelling with young kids.
The hotel has an excellent, fairly regular free shuttle service to Puerto Banus and Marbella town. It runs till fairly late , which was even more impressive! This is a very good business decision by the hotel and means you do not need a car to stay at this hotel. You do have to book the shuttle in advance as it is popular, and is always full on the journeys. The hotel is around 10 minutes drive from Puerto Banus and around 15 to 20 minutes to Marbella. It drops of at Puerto Banus first as this is more popular.

Because of the shuttle service, we did not need a car as a family for the whole stay. The hotel was kind enough to arrange a large 6 seater Mercedes to pick us up. It cost around 130 euro each way. It was expensive but the car and drivers were nicely presented. One of the drivers, young chap was great, the other drove a bit too fast for people with kids.

The hotel is clean, well kept and with an impressive reception area leading to a grand staircase. The reception staff were helpful. There is a young well presented professional woman at reception who is extremely good at looking after the guests, and if you have any issues or requests she is definitely the one to go to.

The grounds are very well kept and nice. We have stayed at some very nice 5 star hotels around the world and in Marbella itself, beach front and this hotel is definitely on par with those. The swimming pool is lovely, it is used by adults and kids but there is plenty of space for everyone and by the end of the holiday you will definitely have made some new friends!

The golf facilities, gym and spa are all excellent. The spa and kids club is pricey, I think the hotel should try and reduce the cost of these in light of the hotel been further out, not beach front, just to help couples, families and give kids more to do! Management needs to remember that if the kids love the hotel, the parents will be back, and these kids will one day be their new paying customers. Couples will also come back one day as a family if they feel they got value for money.

It's a good idea to include breakfast with your stay, otherwise you have the extra hassle of having to find a place early each morning which will be a short trip by car. The hotel runs deals on these on now and then online but if you do not spot one then they may offer you a deal on arrival or you can ask for one!. The deals are definitely worth going for. The selection on offer at breakfast is good but not the best we have come across. For example there are only two types of egg options. However, you will enjoy breakfast nonetheless, its just not as impressive as other hotels around the world that we have stayed at. The view from the terrace as you have breakfast is beautiful- landscaped garden, golf and swimming pool.

The lunch and dinner menus are ok, again pricey . Management should look at this as its something we heard other guests mention time and time again. We did eat at the hotel but just not as much on account of the cost , quality and choice of food available. Puerto Banus and Marbella have lovely and more affordable and bigger selections. But management should try and reduce the cost of lunch and dinner at the hotel to encourage more people to stay. The guests and staff would get to know each other better and form long lasting relationships. All the staff we met were freindly and ready to help.

The hotel provides two small complimentary bottled water in the rooms. This was a nice touch, rarely seen in other hotels. If management was able to put more bottles for children and adults that needed them that would really wow their clients even more. Simple things like this do not cost a lot compared to the cost of the room but guests remember it.

There are different room types. We chose deluxe with panoramic view and pool. This is a bigger room than the classic, looks nicer too. It comes with a seating area which is great for couples to unwind in and for families or those working whilst away. the room had pretty much everything you would expect.

The pool view from some rooms is nice, but not all the rooms have this. If you are further out in the hotel you do not see much of the pool despite it being big. Obviously the hotel charges more for pool views. I am not sure what they mean by panoramic view. The view was nice, not the best we have come across. The hotel does not guarantee King size beds etc which was a disappintment as we ended up with twin beds. The rooms were still nice despite this, and I guess you end up each with a better night sleep!! And even if you request pool view, you may not see much if you are on the otherside, facing the spa and golf areas.

The bathrooms in the deluxe rooms are spacious but the grouting between the tiles has been overfilled, and does not look fabulous. the bathrooms could do with revamping, they have obviously not been touched much since the place was built. They are a bit dated especially for a 5 star hotel in Marbella. Management should look at renewing these with spanish marble if possible.

Overall this hotel is excellent. It is a good place to stay, close enough to get to Puerto Banus and Marbella but far enough for a bit of peace. The hotel has an exclusive feel about it. It also has specail deals on famillies that need two or more rooms which is an excellent idea from management. Because of the little issues I gave 4 stars, it is definitely 4- 41/2 stars at this point in time. But it is close to being perfect.

Room tip: Deluxe panoramic pool views are worth it.

Had a work conference in the nearby Zagaleta resort and decided to stay at the Westin because of SPG Platinum.

Disappointing choice.

It took forever to get to the hotel. The roads are not properly marked on Google and it is very difficult to find the hotel.

But I was disappointed with this hotel for a few reasons. When I got to the hotel, it was very late. The hotel was still serving food according to their menu. So I tried to order something. They said they ran out. I tried to order something else. They ran out. I tried a third thing. They ran out. I asked what they had available. All they had was chicken club sandwiches because the kitchen wasn't heating anything up. That's pretty ridiculous for a 5-star resort hotel.

Also the thermostat didn't really work in the room. There was excessive heat in my room. I had to sleep with all the windows open to cool the room down.

I wouldn't stay here again.

We stayed here with a group recently and the property itself is really beautiful after a recent remodel. The rooms are very spacious and modern, with really comfortable beds and pillows. Our room didn't really have a view, but it was still really nice and clean. The staff and people are great and super friendly and helpful. I tend to like smaller, more boutique properties, but this place has all the amenities and comforts that you'd need without feeling like a big hotel chain. Great location, although you'll need to take a cab if you want to ear off-property- there aren't any places within walking distance.

Stayed here many times before and it is so lovely. Lovely staff, lovely rooms, lovely pool. A real luxury treat for the week or weekend..... The food is very good at the bar and main restaurant. The breakfast is amazing, one of life's great treats to have so many delicious things to choose from for breakfast. Have always had such a great stay here. Highly recommend.

Room tip: Always over looking the pool.

I think this hotel is around 10 years old and to be honest some parts are showing it.

Rates are high (unsurprisingly in August ) and you do feel some proper investment needed.

Some great staff and Golf course looks good to.
